Like yourself I have been wanting an all SS watch since the original Apple Watch. I have never even been able to really justify the SS watch but this year I decided to treat myself. Then after doing that I thought 'I may as well go all in' and I ordered the link bracelet too - I have more money now than when the first Apple Watch came out and my thinking was that if I don't do it now I probably never will. The pricing is still outrageous in my opinion but we only get one life and one chance to do the things that we want to do. In my opinion if you can afford it without causing any financial issues such as bills etc then why the hell not? We never know when our time is up.

Despite being the most expensive band (pretty much) it's my daily driver because before the Apple Watch existed I used to have stainless steel watches so it just feel's right to me. I think maybe in the summer I may need to pop an extra link on due my wrist swelling. However from day to day there is no need to adjust it at all, its very comfortable.

The weight is noticeable, but only just about. and I have just come from an Aluminium S4 with sports band. They are not as heavy as some people claim, just more substantial but in a good way.
I can help you rationalize or justify your purchase. :) The SS watch itself is like $200 more. Do you have any other expensive hobbies or interests? Going to a ballgame costs way more than $200, besides nobody can go to a game now. You're probably going out to eat less often, at least fewer times to expensive high-end restaurants.

You are absolutely right, the majority of hobbies are expensive when you consider the cost of equipment you will need etc. I don't have many other hobbies outside of tech so yeah :)

Plus you are right about eating out less, using less fuel in the car, working from home so not paying for food at work, etc etc.

I ordered a stainless steel with a leather link bracelet (blue) but I have to wait till November

I had a similar ship quote as well. I actually expect my watch to probably arrive more realistically around the end of October if all goes well. I’ve said it many times over, Apple tends to ‘under promise and over deliver‘. The same thing happened last time when I ordered my space black Apple Watch, I was predicted November, and then It was delivered I believe the third week of October.

Loving my SS AW6 😍

Exactly. My first watch was the Apple Watch 4. It was in aluminum. But it felt like a cheap toy. I wanted something more classy. I sold the Watch with only 50 euro’s loss and decided to buy the Stainless Steel Space Black Apple Watch 4.

I loved it. I wanted to go on holidays to Romania. A sport loop is very easy to take off. You don’t want that in such a crowded city as Bucharest. Chances are very high your Watch will be stolen in the old town (Lipscani).

So I thought I needed a band that would be much more difficult to open. I came to the Space Black Link Bracelet. I was like ‘heck, if I pay 2700 euro’s for a MacBook, why not treat myself with a Link Bracelet?’

I bought it and I instantly loved it. Now I am using it with my Graphite Watch. Ever since I have the Link Bracelet, I never used a different brand. I even take naps with this band. I forget often I’m wearing a watch. It (the Watch and the band) is definitely not as heavy as people say.

Maybe someone can help? I have a graphite SS AW. I unpaired my series 5 SBSS and sent it in for trade in. The graphite incorrectly is noted as aluminum. I can live with that bug, but there is a more serious issue.

When I log into my iMac and go to “security and privacy”, two Apple watches are listed that can unlock my iMac. Except, I only only have the series 6. One says [my name] Apple Watch aluminum, which is my graphite series 6 watch. The second watch in the listing says [my name] Apple Watch stainless steel.

When I go into Find My, only the series 6 is listed. When I list my devices, only the series 6 watch appears.

Any suggestions how to fix this, in terms of deleting the second watch from security and privacy. Apple tech support has so far not solved this (level 1). Help!

I have the same issue and will just wait for Apple to fix it as it doesn't bother me much.

Here's what I could find about the issue and a possible way to fix it. I have tried it but if it's really bothering you, you could give it a go.

@gwang73 Auto Unlock works. It is just the issue of the duplicate watch.

@Relentless Power

Hi

I think you mentioned you switched from SS to Aluminum? I wonder why?

Actually, there’s two watches that I opted for this year. The stainless Apple Watch has been my ‘go to’ for years, and originally the graphite was an instant buy for me. However, after viewing extensive photos from other members, I canceled the graphite (It was to muted and similar to the regular stainless) and opted for the natural titanium [I really like the brushed look]. Last year, I was interested in the natural titanium (Passed on it), but continued on with the black stainless.

So why do aluminum as well? I just wanted two Apple watches. That’s really it. I know it sounds crazy, but I had five stainless Apple Watches at one point, but I’m not as centric as I once was from when the Apple Watch first launched in 2015.

@Relentless Power. Thanks for your response. I have the graphite with the matching ML. I am careful with the ML, but there already are a few micro scratches on the bottom of the case, where the loop part of the band attaches.

The problem is that I am allergic to all but the SS bands, so I am sort of stuck. The link bracelet presented other issues which ruled it out for me.

I use a charger that allows me to charge the watch on its side with the band extended back. Anything else, I can do to mitigate micro scratches with that band? If you need to remove the watch for travel, how best can you protect it? Thanks.

The way I would look at it is like this, just be as cautious as you can with when you remove the watch off your wrist and how you lay it down. It really is about how cautious you are and you can prevent the scratches if you are careful enough. That being said, just realize this, even if you find a minor scratch on the watch casing, it really isn’t that big of a deal. What you don’t want, is scratches on the actual display itself. Scratches on the casing give the watch a little bit of character and Well it’s a watch, and it’s meant to be showing some type of ‘wear and tear‘ over the course of time. Look at it like it’s a ‘patina‘ of some sort.

As for travel with the actual watch itself separated it from the watch band, this is what I would recommend below, and it’s one of those soft Nylon glasses case. You can find these really cheap and you can store the watch in one pouch and the band in a separate pouch. That’s what I was doing for traveling as well.

Thank you to this thread for giving me the push to jump in - I'm now a member of the stainless steel club!

I wasn't having a good week last week and I took many of the comments in this thread into consideration. No regrets at all - really pleased with the purchase.

Purchased at a local Apple Store here in the UK where I had to book the personal shopping appointment - the store itself is one of the older, small stores located inside a shopping centre/mall where they can only have 11x customers inside to maintain social distancing. I felt incredibly safe in there and I would argue I've never had a more pleasant retail experience inside an Apple Store due to it being so quiet.

Came to this from previous space grey aluminium watches and I was surprised by how different the stainless steel appears on my wrist. The watch looks visibly larger and more like a traditional time piece vs a smart watch.

It is, thankfully, very compatible with my existing collection of coloured sport bands. The only band it's questionable with is the Nike black and volt, which pains me as it's one of my favourites for working out in.

The weight, even with the link bracelet, is perfectly fine. I'm used to heavier traditional watches, so it sits in a sweet spot between those and the aluminium watches.

My wife is now thinking of jumping on the stainless steel bandwagon, as her Series 4 in gold means she's very limited in her band colour choices.

I upgraded my space grey aluminum S4 to the SS Silver S6 with black leather loop bracelet. I am LOVING both the SS watch and the sapphire crystal. But I really love the leather loop band! Can't wait for my black braided band to arrive... Looks like I still have another month to wait.

A combo I haven’t seen here before. Absolutely love the Link bracelet. Feels much better than the Milanese (have that in silver)
