They're not delivering today in the US. Shipped means they pick it up from the source (usually China if it's a batch of watches coming in).

The couriers work 365 days a year. They don't close.

Oh I know. I used to work for UPS as a supervisor. If the pilot is US based they celebrate the holiday no matter where they are.

Just chatted with store support to confirm my order time. They indicated everything looked good but they still haven't gotten any updated delivery times for us "June" deliveries. Hoping based on the flow of orders, I get mine charged this week...

Surprised they wouldn't get a day in-lieu. That's what most 24/7/365 operations do. You work it into the rotation (just like vacation days) so there's less impact.

Both fedex and ups push as much volume through the system no matter the delivery date. That wat as the it turns midnight where ever in the world that American based employee is, the vast majority of the volume will make its delivery date. And it works this way for any country and the respective holiday(s). That way the employee gets to celebrate the holiday. They are 24/7/365 operations just not everywhere, everyday. If that makes since.

Hmm. So, Anchorage would be closed today for customs clearance then?

Not according to flightaware. There's a number of flights in / out.

Fwiw - 2 in the air from China - 5 scheduled for Louisville later today.

Customs doesn't have to be open for a flight to land. They take it from the plane via bonded transport to a bonded storage location until CBP clears the items.

Flights are not the same thing as customs clearance ;)

Edit: Sorry, see that I crossed posts there!

Cargo can be precleared at the point of origin. It's done just for these type of events. Anchorage became a cargo hub because of airplane not being able to make the trip from China to UPS and FedEx hubs in the states. Now the 777f can so a lot of volume move through fedex goes direct from China to Memphis skipping anchorage all together.

That's cool.

So as long as FlightAware shows that UPS have planes in the sky, we can assume that things are ticking along and we will get our watches on a suitable working day in the next.....4-6 weeks :)

Yeah, ordered at 8:32am eastern April 10th - July here... Just so much waiting and no response from anything... Got charged twice and refunded twice for AppleCare to make sure my card still works... Soon I'm hoping

Do you know if Apple sends the straight to the Uk, or if they go through one of these hubs? I know there's Anchorage - Louisville - then East Midlands, but there is also a hub in Cologne that's to cover Europe.

There's that optimism again. Careful, people will start calling you Bixi. :D

Who's Bixi?
