There have been a few articles on MR now with similar reports, so it looks like Promotion VRR 120 hz is finally coming to ‘regular’ iPhone models. This then needs to follow suit with the iPad Air and Macbook Air also.
Agree. I have a 2018 iPad Pro and spending £1300 on a 13in M4 Pro (ignoring the fact the OLED gives me headaches) with a phone OS is a joke. The only 'Pro' feature i care about is promotion.

My iPhone 16 Pro Max has a 4685 mAh that lasts me 3 days.
Really?? A full charge cycle last you 3 days??

How so? Are you using it just to make and receive calls, or what?

I have to charge my 16 Pro every night. I don’t have any trouble to finish the day with an average 20% still, but to think in a longer duration to me is like a dream.

Ok, that makes too much sense to me. I use 3 times more my phone, so it’s logical that I spend 3 times more battery.

I am a realtor, so I work a lot with my phone.

Thank you so much for clarifying my concern 👍🏻

Thank you so much for clarifying my concern 👍🏻

I use the following chargers as well to lengthen battery health.

Slow charge: 0-90% overnight while I'm asleep

- 5-12W USB-A wall charger
- USB-A to USB-C cable

Fast charge: 0-50% ~30 mins while outdoors

- 30W USB-C car charger or powerbank
- USB-C to USB-C cable

Hopefully there will be refresh rate upgrade in 2025. Expecting all models to have 120Hz but will not be surprised if Apple decides to have only 90Hz for the non Pro models.

FlyingDutch i said that already, but this is about phones not tablets. If you’re trying to say Apple should get more credit as they technically developed a 120 hz variable refresh display first in 2017 then yes you are right.
As far as the screen is concerned, smartphones and tablets share the same technology 🤷🏻‍♂️
And the Galaxy Note always was something “in between” phone and tablet.

you are doing a very light usage.
My 16 PM lasts one day (I don’t want it to go under 30%). On a lucky day I could make two days on a single charge, but it doesn’t happen very often.

My iPhone 13 Pro Max that I used for 3 years had a 91% battery health when I sold it.

Every battery is different, but you are probably putting less recharging cycles on it with your usage comparing to average, which is very good for the battery.
By the way also in my experience iPhone 13 series batteries were very robust : my son’s 13 still is 88% after more than 3 years and my other son’s 13 Pro is 87% after the same period. And they are using it A LOT.
On the contrary my previous 14 Pro Max was the worse iPhone I’ve ever owned, concerning battery health: after 18 months was down to 82% (and Apple wasn’t telling the whole truth, because third party utilities like Battery Stats told me a different story with 78%).

I wonder what they'll add to the Pro line to make it worth the $200 difference then... or conversely, how they'll handicap the regular iPhones to make people willing to pay an extra $200 for a "Pro" iPhone. 😩

(because otherwise I don't see people willing to fork over that much money for an extra camera lens and bland metallic colors)
Nothing. They’ll kneecap the non-pro phone instead.

If the base model iPhone 17 get ProMotion and Always On Display, I’ll personally have no reason to get a Pro model anymore as that’s kinda the only reason I got the 15 Pro now. I’d love an iPhone that comes in a color.

Yep, Titanium frame, slimmer bezels, faster USB C transfer speeds and better cameras may not be enough for a lot of people just to get the Pro model, and there are literally no rumours of anything new coming to the Pro models for further differentiation. Of course there will be a lot of people getting the Pro model as they want the full fat iPhone experience no matter what.

Rumors are Apple is switching back to aluminum for the frame. No more Titanium.

Heck... increase the thickness of the iPhone to make the camera bump flushed to the back.
I don’t like the camera bump, but I bet it has decreased repair a lot. When you’re holding in portrait mode, it’s hard for the camera bump to slip past your fingers and so the phone doesn’t slip out of your hands. Over the entire sales base, I would be surprised if it has saved fewer than 1000 phones.

I wouldn’t be surprised if in some future generation we get a full width “camera bump.“

So you realise that comes with the trade-off in weight? And the 16 Pro is already overweight. I have the 15 Pro only was ok to buy it because it got lighter from the 14 Pro. I wouldn’t want an iPhone even 1g heavier.

And you’re asking 20% every year, do you realise what you’re asking? That is simply unrealistic.
It appears that what I want to happen will come to fruition via Silicon-carbon (Si-C) batteries come 2025 or 2026.

They have advantages over lithium-ion batteries, including:

- smaller size
- more sustainable
- safer

Looking or Apple to maintain current size/weight and just increase mAh so I hopefully can extend my 3 day 4685 mAh battery life to 5 days 7800 mAh battery.

Smartphones that are already using this battery tech are

- Honor Magic 5 Pro
- Honor Magic 6 Pro
- OnePlus Ace 3 Pro
- Xiaomi 13 and 14 series
- vivo X100 Ultra and X Fold 3 Pro

Pretty stupid calling it ‘ProMotion’ when there’s nothing professional about a quality of life feature. 120hz has been standard on Android for years, it’s well overdue.
Android phones doesn't do Always On display as good as iPhone 14 Pro & onwards devices do. With 1-120 Hz refresh rate, 'Always On' function will find its way to the vanilla iPhone 17. There you have it, the 'Pro' of 'ProMotion' somewhere between.

I'm not an Apple diehard by any means. I only use the iPhone, rest of my stuff is Android/Windows. But I do love my iPhone and have used one since I moved from Android in 2012. I'm at the point with these clowns that if they don't give people 120Hz on the base poor man's iPhone 17, I'm done.

I was at the same point with the iPhone 15 if it didn't have USB-C. Done with the foolishness. None of these phones are cheap. And I think the Pro models are abusive. I'm not poor, I'm just not giving Apple that kind of money. I have a few hundred thousand in the bank from decades of working, has nothing to do with struggling- I just refuse to pay over $1000 for a phone. I am a man that uses it for calls, texts, and banking. I'm not a child, and not a woman dinking around.

I'm upgrading with either the iPhone 17 or the S26. There's a lot of intrinsic value to iPhones that don't look so hot on a spec sheet, but I know what those things are and grant a lot of points to Apple for them. But I've had enough with the idea I'm paying $900 for my model of choice, the 256GB iPhone 16 when the S25 is roughly $100 less. Been since 2012 and there are things I still miss about Android so I won't be crying to sent off as a peasant.

Agree with your post, other than the part in bold

Just go and move back to Android. Your threats are unnecessary…. Nobody cares.

You must be trolling. I refuse to believe that people have such deep thoughts about their phone.
