Anyone know about the line size at the San Francisco stores?

I'm going there in the morning, but I already have one reserved. I'm just hoping it's true that there is a different line for us with reserved phones.

Brings a tear to my eye...

It hurts to see so many broken souls filling the emptiness in their lives with trendy electronic pacifiers. Listen to your mothers, my wayward dears: get professional help. Your loved ones and credit cards will be so thankful.

Same Process as iPad, I imagine

I'm going there in the morning, but I already have one reserved. I'm just hoping it's true that there is a different line for us with reserved phones.

When I picked up my iPad on Day 1, there were two lines at my local Apple Store (Oakridge Mall) in San Jose. One line for the reservations, and the 2nd line (out the door and around the corner) for those hoping to get in and grab one.

I imagine and hope they do the same - but you never know.

I will be there as close to 7 as I can drag my ass out of bed!
:)

Looking forward to upgrading my 3G to 4

at&t store and pre-order

My iPhone tracking shows it's in Rockford, IL via UPS right now on it's way to the AT&T store (45 minutes away)... Does anyone know if I show up when the doors open at 8am, will I be able to get an iphone since I pre-ordered first thing on the 15th, or do I have to wait until "my" iphone actually arrives at the store which might be later in the afternoon?? They didn't tell me ANYTHING when I ordered the phone, so I'm guessing I can just show up anytime on launch day and get a phone?

for a phone I'm holding in my hand.

Haha I was thinking the same thing...I almost wanna run by the line outside waving it in my hand yelling "You will neva get this! You will neva get this!" Until they break my legs and they "Get this..."

Apple and AT&T get an F on their report card for the most mangled product roll out ever. Get everyone hyped, roll back contract dates , gaff the pre-order experience and then completely fail to deliver product on roll out day. Just wait till Steve starts recieving emails from pissed off customers who can't buy an iPhone ....

You could say the same thing about following sports, or playing games, or reading novels, or going to the movies, or collecting stamps.

The device isn’t empty—it serves a function. The waiting in line part isn’t empty either. It’s fun! :)

I’ve never waited in any major line for a purchase in my life (yep—no Black Friday shopping for me). And I never intend to. But that doesn’t mean I’m opposed to doing something just for fun, for the heck of it, with people who share your interests.

If you’re afraid of having fun, and make this into some kind of problem, then I say... lighten up :) Fun isn’t evil any more than a great piece of hardware is.

AT&T did screw up (if you think demand could have been predicted—which is not as simple as you might think). But Apple did not “completely fail to deliver product on roll out day”—the rollout hasn’t even started, and some people already HAVE the product. Yes—Apple’s early, not late.

PS—my own online order experience (including changing my plan option with AT&T—all done right through apple.com) was quick and easy.

Radio Shack and iPhone Upgrades?

Does Radio Shack take care of iPhone Upgrades? I have a 3GS and need to pay the $200 upgrade fee. Will I have to go to the AT&T store?

at&t store pre-order

I pre-ordered an iPhone from the AT&T store, but when I checked the shipping info it might not get there til 3-4 in the afternoon. Does anyone know if I show up when the doors open, will I be able to get an iPhone, or do you actually have to wait for your specifically ordered iPhone? They didn't mention anything, they said they were going to call customers but they didn't do that either.

You mean they got an A+++ for the "most mangled product roll out ever".

MacGod, I'm here at Oakridge as we speak! As of this writing, there's about 50 people in line so far. I'm first in line, got here at 4:30pm. =)

For those curious, the way the Apple Store is doing it here is:

One long line that starts right outside of the mall door that is nearest the Apple Store. At 6am, mall security is going to open the doors and Apple employees will walk us inside the mall, AT THAT POINT directing us in the order we came in, into lines that are separate for reserved and walk-in.

They said they are going to try and knock out reserved phones faster than walk-ins, because those are already set aside for us, but they're not going to make the walk-ins wait until completely after - like someone said earlier, something like 10 reservations for every walk-in type thing.

Hope to have helped some of you.
=)

My wife and I were at the Fashion Valley (San Diego) Apple Store today (Weds.) around 2pm. There was not a single person waiting in line. The employees had the stanchions all ready out in front of the store to be ready for a line if one was to start forming, but not a single soul was waiting in line.

Frankly, it kind of surprised me. The Fashion Valley Apple Store is frequently #1 in sales in all of California. It's a VERY busy store. The place was PACKED when we were in there.

Unfortunately, they didn't have ANY of their iPhone 4 accessories on display yet. I wanted to check out the bumpers. They told me to come back tomorrow.
