Dear apple,

* Jamba Juice which works wih softcard

The list is in no particular order. I've also cc'en svp Greg of Apple pay as well.

Actually, Jamba Juice works with Apple Pay and Google Wallet perfectly. Not just softcard.

I don't think people understand yet.... any place that accepts NFC payments is compatible with Apple Pay (Unless they are partnered with CurrentC).

So we don't really need announcements of every store that supports it.... just find out if the store supports NFC.

I still like the announcements. It lets me know whether a store has NFC even before I go there. If it's not Rite-Aide, Old Navy, CVS, etc. then it should work if they have NFC but I haven't noticed until now whether some stores have NFC.

Dear apple,

Stop accepting apple pay at the lamest places. Here are the establishments I would love to use apple pay at:

* chipotle
* Olive Garden
* dominos
* Pizza Hut
* the rock pizza
* frys
* McClendon
* Burger King
* Amazon.com
* fred Meyer
* Safeway
* costco
* costco gas stations
* movie theaters
* Taco Bell
* Wendy's
* chilis restaurants
* Applebees
* bestbuy
* Jamba Juice which works wih softcard
* ikea

The list is in no particular order. I've also cc'en svp Greg of Apple pay as well.

I encourage you to take up cooking and try to introduce a little fiber into your diet. That list of restaurant establishments is downright scary for one's health.

This is not news, I have been using Applepay at Staples for two weeks, there system was ready from the go....very easy and very nice...

The news here really is that a Staples store actually had something worth buying, in stock. I've pretty much given up on them on both counts.

You do know that Apple Pay is synonymous with NFC as far as the end-user and the retailers are concerned, right? Apple Pay uses NFC technology.

He knows that. What is being referred to is ApplePay vs. say GoogleWallet or just typical NFC payment. ApplePay handles the NFC payments differently than the standard NFC method. You can still use the iPhone 6 to make regular NFC payments outside of the ApplePay method, say at a vending machine. It just won't do the extra security of ApplePay.

Ummm, wrong.

The security side of things is between your phone and the bank, the merchant doesn't need to do anything beyond turning NFC on.

Yes it does, the tokenization is simply emulated so the transaction takes longer, though the security is still the same. The way this works is the tken is sent out, and the terminal won't recognize it (or the backend of the merchant won't), so that information is sent directly to the bank. The bank recognizes it needs to decrypt the full token, and send back information with the same emulated encryption, so it still appears as a regular card. This information is then processed by the merchant, then it's all done. Still just as safe, though there is more communication between the bank ond the retailer, so it takes longer.

SF Bay Area Public Transportation

I know this may be a bit off topic but we have a "one card that rules them all" out here in the Bay Area, the Clipper Card, which you can load up with money and it's good on just about every local or county transit agency here, including BART, SF Muni, ferries, you name it.

Well today I decided to try and stick my Clipper card (size of a credit card with NFC chip) inside the back of my iPhone 6 case, to save me the hassles of taking it out of my wallet every time it needs to be scanned/tagged.

Well when I tried to board Caltrain in San Jose to SF, I scan my iPhone case at the train station NFC reader and up pops the Passbook app with my default Apple Pay card.

So to register my fare I had to take the Clipper card out of the iPhone skin and rescan but OMG!

So the entire Bay Area multi-county trains/buses/BART/subways are all pre-wired for NFC and hence Apple Pay. Everything. Everywhere. At least in the Bay Area.

I'm sure Apple already knows about this. Just saying'. Pretty cool.

I'd give it no more than one year before we can toss the transit cards.

Am I the only one who thinks using a contactless card is quicker - and never runs out of battery?

Thanks to the folks here, I was able to track down a replacement AMEX card that comes with Chipset + Contactless.

I am also re-ordering my Chase Freedom Visa with Blink.

With these cards, I take them out of my pocket, and wave over. done. No friction with fingerprint...and I save $649 to boot!!:)

I think AP is more frictionless than 1) getting my wallet out of back pocket, 2) selecting a card, 3) waving the card 4) putting card back in wallet and then 5) wallet back in pocket. My phone is usually more 'handy' than my wallet and involves 3 steps not five (taking phone out of front pocket, paying, then back in front pocket).

But the real frictionless transaction will come with AppleWatch. Phone and wallet stay in pocket, and just wave Watch to pay. Probably not worth $350 if that's the only reason why you'd purchase it, but of course the Watch will be much more than a one trick pony that only supports Apple Pay.

I have saying this for a while (read my sig) but I believe :apple:Pay is the beginning of the ring... I mean the :apple:... I mean that one card that rules them all.

I'll wait to see how safe it is.

No need to wait. Read up on EMV Tokenization which is what Apple is using. Best thing going right now for card transaction security, nobody but your card issuer has your card number and details. Not even Apple.

Supply closet at work already revolutionized that.

Well some folks don't take work supplies home and prefer a better paper than is in the work supply closet. :)

overpriced stuff at staples

last time i shopped in store, there were more employees than customers

surprised they are still in business

$23 billion in revenue in 2013. Still in business. :rolleyes:

Yup. They closed a bunch of stores recently.

Low performing stores. They are still by far the largest office supply dealer in the US. Even the recent merger of Office Depot and Office Max is still smaller than Staples.

Market Basket <- The cash registers run Windows 95, I feel like this is going to take forever.
