I really didn't like the first two prequels. Haven't seen Episode III.

I taped Episodes 4-6 off network TV back in the late 80's when Return of the Jedi premiered on TV. I still watch those occasionally, though they are starting to deteriorate badly. :(

Lucas will probably redo 4-6, though I bet not for a while. And I will probably hate it. They really milked the DVD releases for all they were worth, just as bad as LOTR. And they're not done yet! I bet most of the people who buy the uber-pricey full boxed set of all six films will already own them all on DVD to begin with. Talk about good business!

Yes, I'm reviving this thread since it really doesn't make sense to start a new one. I just got the original trilogy on DVD for Christmas and finally had a chance to site down and watch it this morning. Ah, memories.

One thing that I thought was interesting is that they editing the ending of Return of the Jedi. Unfortunately, it wasn't to completely remove the Ewoks, but they did swap in the Anakin Skywalker from the Prequels (Hayden Christensen) in the "ghost gathering" at the very end.

Nice touch, and not all that surprising I suppose.

... For example, in the original cut of III, there was a whole hour of footage of the opening Palpatine rescue, but was cut down to 25 min ... all of the deleted scenes were really good but simply cut for time. ...

I just watched it last night, and I agree, it is by far the best of the prequels. But it is 2 hours and 20 minutes long, even without the deleted material! It does jump around and feel "choppy", constantly switching between the various paths of the story. There are also places where it seems to move fairly slowly, such as Anakin's conversations with Padme. The opening scene (Palpatine rescue) seems completely crazy, no way to tell what's going on or whose ships are whose. Adding the deleted material will make it much longer; but on a 6-movie DVD set, who cares? Split it into IIIa and IIIb if you like.

I would like to see new Star Wars movies or 100% redone Star Wars movies. Not to take away from the originals, I just want to see additional material. 6 movies isn't very much for a topic that big.

That would be a horrible idea. Lucas is already developing a TV series focusing on the period between the trilogies. Remaking the movies would be a waste of time.
