They can't just keep re-releasing these movies and say, "for the first time on _____."
It worked the first few times but we're on to their scheme.

"All six Star Wars movies will be available digitally for the first time..."

DVD is digital.

Bluray is digital.

WHY are people using "available on digital" to mean "available to download"? Why not just say "Available for download"?

You missed
'Handheld cam from the back of the movie theater and pirated out' is digital

For me the big problem is likely to be the iTunes release will be one of the over-enhanced and constantly-being-edited versions, since Lucas has actively been blocking any attempts to release of the original films.

Pretty please, make this a world-wide release, not US only. Been wanting to add this to my iTunes library for some time. This and the extended edition of the LOTR-trilogy (for some reason we only have the theatrical version here)

Well, Lucas has no say-so any longer. But that said, I still think this will be the most recent version.

But maybe they do like it was done with the recent (at least where I live) re-release of Avatar onto iTunes? I think they added all 3 versions of it for the price of one.

EDIT: I can answer my own question/hope, as I can see and pre-order it in the iTunes store, so it's available where I live as well, yay!

As for the second part, which release it is, if you look at the iTunes extra preview content, there's something called "Legacy content", you can't see what's in it, but maybe there's a small chance there's older versions included as well.

But Han shot first!
Edit: Never mind, someone already said that of course. OK... "We're thrilled that fans will be able to enjoy the*Star Wars*saga on their digital devices wherever they go." Yeah, the only reason they couldn't (without piracy) was because you didn't allow it.

I thought I was already on iTunes lol. This will make some people happy

And still you'll get not Blu-Ray quality, just like any iTunes audio is not even CD quality (not speaking of that of Vinyl), just like any iTunes 1080p HD isn't real Full HD. All you get is compressed Blu-Ray movies, because for the most people to stream such a large amount of data is beyond limitations of internet speed.

I HATE Myself Pt 2

Today is the day for saying I hate myself :) First I'm getting sucked into the iWatch Hype and now this???? Maybe I do have more money than sense. Because even though I do have this burned (with all the extras in Letterbox And Full Screen And the Hand Shot first bitches SD Version), I want the official digital version.

I love Disney's Movie Anywhere it means I purchase it once and it'll also work on UltraViolet AND include all the Extras. Gah!!!

Am I the only one who is tired of Letterboxing? In this modern age when most people have 55inch TVs, it'd be nice if there was a Full Screen Toggle or the ability to turn off Letterboxing. I know most "purist" love it, but personally I despise Letter Boxing. I have 60 Inch HDTV, I want every inch of that screen filled with HD goodness.

How many times can people seriously watch Star Wars ?!!
I mean , really !
There's so much good stuff out there. Why waste all your time?
Google "Criterian Collection" - Awesome stuff.

Because, I don't know, people LIKE it? I know it may be hard to believe but it's true.

What "scheme?" It is the first time on digital.

Hate is strong in this thread. I don't know why people spend so much time and energy in hating on something. You don't like it, fine, we don't care. Move onto another thread.

I'm done with Star Wars and the constant rereleases every couple years.

Save yourself the money and rip the DVDs you own.

I'm not looking forward to Episode VII and will probably not watch it at all.

How many more 'collections' can they milk... reminds of Lord of the Rings trilogies LOL!

I'd be curious in finding out how many versions have fan on this board bought over the years.

I'll start: 0 :D

Sure they can, they still have the Originals to milk - which they'll probably do when the new trilogy is complete... Or when the first one of the new trilogy is released on Blu-ray - then they can re-release it a few more times...

Maybe I'm a bit OCD but this misuse of the word "digital" drives me nuts!

A guy I know still has the laser disc releases of these movies. Laser discs are the same size as vinyl albums. :)

$20 a movie is too much for me to re-purchase them on iTunes. Make it $79 for the collection and we'll talk
