Honestly guys, the film got way too much hype. I liked it, especially the effects. But the story could have been better. The thing that bothered me the most was how Finn and Rey were wielding the light saber. Finn, a guy who worked at sanitation, stood up to Kylo without a problem. I admit Kylo wasn't the biggest bad ass, but he could have beaten Finn just by using the force. Same with Rey. It took Luke two movies to master the force and to be good with the lightsaber. And in this movie, the first time she picks it up, it's a even contest vs a obviously much stronger opponent. And yeah, he was hurt, but that doesn't mean he couldn't have 'cheated' by using the force and just slamming them both at a tree or something.

Excellent! But I'll be waiting for the bluray. For something as magnificent as this film I want to experience it in the best quality I currently can.

Heads up: if you own this box set, there are spaces for episodes 7-9 if you remove the bonus disks. image.jpeg

Kylo was still in training and the progression of the lead role becoming a Jedi master was only necessary in the original trilogy to tell the story. No need to go over any more old ground in the new film.

I didn't enjoy this movie at all, too many issues, even from a casual point of view. The fact it tried to mirror the original while being a sequel at the same time didn't either. Here's an interesting comparison with the original:
https://www.yahoo.com/movies/watch-a-stunning-side-by-side-comparison-of-star-154726328.html

I really enjoyed it but I the fact it mirrored so closely the original did give me pause. It creates two problems in my mind. One, it's beginning to look like the easiest solution to preventing the spread of evil in the galaxy is to sterilise the Skywalker family. Two, where on earth are the First Order getting the money to build Star Killer Base. I mean the Empire had the resources of an entire, well, empire to spend on the first two Death Stars. But since power has now seeded back to the senate, where's the money coming from?

Oh..i'm just waiting for the next movie about The New Order to hunt down resistance on the planet similar to Hoth...with their AT AT walkers...to blast down their generators. I'm sure Kylo will be there with his storm troopers...and hopefully waiting to see Rey lose her arms as Kylo tells her..."Rey, you are my sister!"
Her response? "NOOOOOOO"

That sounds awesome!

Lol you are correct.
I think you meant to say "You're so right".

[doublepost=1459510800][/doublepost]Well, if my iTunes would play videos, I might consider it. However, my iTunes hasn’t been able to play movies or TV shows since several updates ago. This is a wide spread issue as found on Apple Communities and other support forums. UGH!

Anybody know if they still have there $4.99 movie of the week(end) anywhere on itunes? Its nothing but Star Wars banners on the entire carousel.

I look forward to that every Friday :(

I asked myself these questions and was curious enough to search for the answers. In the new canon, the senate was disbanded. The military was also disbanded and control was mostly seeded back to local gov't. Remember that we are talking about a galaxy, not one star system with one sun and planets around it. Galaxies are very vast with billions of stars. Even under the emperor's reign, they didn't control all of the Galaxy. Most of it was unexplored.... Even stars near "space lanes" were still unexplored.

So with a weaker central gov't. A small military presence. And an entire galaxy at their disposal. It's no wonder the First Order was able to build the Star Killer base. We know they have been conscripting whole planets as well as its resources for 20+ years????.......So it stands to reason they were able to amass enough for their campaigns, no?

Until iTunes supports DTS (which will probably never happen) I'll buy the bluray and rip it to Plex

That actually makes some sense. Although despite their name the, First Order, doesn't seem as ordered as the Empire was. So, it still seems unlikely to me that they could have amassed such massive resources. Star Killer Base is the size of a planet, dwarfing the Death Stars, plus all the ships as well. But Ho hum, it's all fiction anyway and it certainly didn't spoil my enjoyment of the movie, after growing up with the original trilogy it felt like going home.

Thank you for the insight.

Such a disappointment in terms of story, which chronologically doesn't push the overall universe forward because it's practically a remake of Episode IV so Disney can make all the money. I just wish Episode VII was a true continuation. And not to forget that John Williams score disappointed as well, which is something that even the prequels delivered on.

While the formula was the same as ANH, the plot did move it forward. We are 30 years past the battle of Endor and there's new bad guys (just like EP3 to EP4). Luke started a new Jedi order- they were killed by Han & Leia's son who is now the main Sith to fight. Rey is probably related to the main characters as well. Star Wars is cyclical for sure- it's a space opera about family. EP7 did move the story forward- it did a good job transitioning from the OT characters to their children. What else do you want? Han, Luke & Leia not aging and still fighting like they did 30 years ago like the EU books?

I agree Williams did not deliver with most of the soundtrack. Say what you will about the prequels, but each had a fantastic and distinctive main theme song.

1. Is it the same bonus bundle as on the Blu Ray versions?

2. Does it contain all the deleted scenes?

3. General question for "digital copies" on combined media--does it allow me to watch off the cloud on my Apple tv? I'm not interested in downloading to my computer and streaming from there. Does it work this way for this film?

I'm probably an idiot for asking this, and it's a bit off-topic(-ish):

What is the point of "the Resistance" when the New Republic is in power? The Resistance is the New Republic. Isn't the First Order technically the Resistance because it's, well, resisting the New Republic?

Shouldn't the New Republic's "resistance" just be called "the army?"

I saw the movie under the influences of jet lag, so it's entirely likely I missed the distinction in the movie.

I can't wait until episode 9, when the "bad guys" will have their 4th attempt at a Death Star.

A few problems I had with the current version, Death Star 3.0 (usually, at 3.0, they get it right, don't they?)
1. Anything that sucks up a star won't have snow on it. Especially when it is compressed into a smaller space. Physics, folks. I'll use the universal gas equation: PV=nRT (volume has shrunk, so guess what happens to pressure and temperature?)
2. On point #1... Anything that sucks up the mass of a star isn't going to have people jumping all over the place. The gravity pull of our sun at the surface is 28x that of the earth's. Now, that death star just compressed that star into a smaller volume, so the gravitational pull would be even larger (think, mass stays the same, the distance to the center of that mass just shrank (formula is F = G(M1*M2)/Distance between two masses), so 120lb Rae now weighs 33,600 lbs, and that not so light saber now weighs 280lbs. Use the Force, indeed.
3. Seriously... Every time they build one of these, they leave some easy to disarm and blow up flaw. Sooner or later, they'll run out of money to build these things.
4. Where do they get all the materials to build these things?
5. The mass of these things would cause havoc on any planet or moon that has a visit from these stations. think of what the moon does to the weather on our planet and the water on it. Now, imagine another one shows up and starts messing with stuff. they don't even have to fire a shot.
6. An alternative to them blowing up planets would just have them suck up the star and then leave. Planets do really well when they're orbiting stars. As soon as that star goes away (is stolen), it'd be interesting to see the effect. My guess is they'd eventually freeze, and careen off into space.

I wouldn't be surprised if they're holding back a Directors Cut for release just before Episode 8. It would be awesome though. I wonder if some industrious folk will try and integrate the deleted scenes into the the Theatrical Cut when they get their hands on it?

They are nerds, of course someone will :)
