A free-to-play app deserves at least a mention of how the model has been implemented. I.e. is it possible to complete the game without spending money, but most importantly if you do so will it be fun?

er… so no, it isn't compatible with my original iPad which can't go past iOS 5.1.1. It should say 'iPad 2 or later'.

The iPad 1 does not exist in Apple's eyes. iPad starts at iPad 3. The iOS 6.0 requirement should tell you that, no matter what iPad they are reffering to.

Tiny Towers doesn't have any actual gameplay, so it won't be fun whether you spend money or not.

Tiny Towers is interesting to look at for the art and it can be compelling in an OCD/collection/addiction sort of way, but it's definitely not fun.

I can't speak for Tiny Death Star, but I assume it is the same.

After watching the trailer, they aren't taking themselves too seriously. Which is a good thing.

When was the last time anyone saw anything from Star Wars take itself even remotely serious? It was three great films, followed by 30 years of Darth Vader dancing and emasculating spoofs. The Death Star doesn't need ice cream shops to convince us the entire franchise is a joke.

It's not ironic if it's the only thing you do.

Maybe JJ will fix it. ...with his cunning use of lens flares.

I always considered Tiny Tower to be more of a "toy" or digital pet (in the manner of Tamagotchi). And Tiny Death Star continues the tradition, with few improvements in concept and artwork, but largely the same animal.

As others have said, lack of iCloud sync is puzzling, since all of Nimblebit's recent games have iCloud sync.

As with Tiny Tower, filling in residential floor is the most frustrating part of playing the game. Well, Nimblebit needs to earn its bucks somehow, although $9.99 for meager 150 bux is rather stiff.

Although Nimblebit games can be played and completed without any in-app purchase, I would like to see more sane in-app purchase pricing model.

Arrgghhh just let me pay a price for games instead of giving me the feeling of sitting infront of a slot machine!

I hate fremium slot machines

Apple is still selling the iPad 2, shipping with iOS7.

Free to install but IAP out the whazoo if you want to play effectively.

IAP is only required if you are extremely impatient. I have almost 200 floors in Tiny Tower and never once used IAP. This will be the same.

Nimblebit is one of the few game devs that get IAP right. Good game play, only punish the impatient.

Apparently, the game needs a digital compass in order to function.

No, it's an install error. My coworker got it on his iPod Touch yesterday, by "purchasing" it on iTunes on his desktop, and then going to "Purchased" in the App store app on the iPod and downloading it then.

Read the poster's previous statement I was referring to and then reread mine. I said iPad 1 otherwise known as iPad does not exists in Apple's eyes. iPad 2 is called iPad 2 but the 3 is simply named iPad. When the minimun specs are iPad, but the minimun software says 6, you know it can't be for the original iPad.

I've done the same in Pocket planes and Tiny Tower. I've never touched the IAPs, but I have a massive tower and a large fleet of planes.

I guess I'll try that when I get home. I recall doing something similar with Google+ when it first came out.

This game is in desperate need of iCloud syncing.

The other NimbleBit games incorporate iCloud. If this one doesn't, then it would be odd if it doesn't incorporate it at some point.

For the record, this game was developed by Disney Interactive with input by NimbleBit. And there currently is no cloud sync support, which as the above poster mentioned…sucks.

Huh? Did you even try to play? Although this isn't a pure NimbleBit game (as I mentioned above) it plays pretty much just like the rest of their titles (Tiny Tower, Pocket Planes, etc). IAP's are entirely optional and are not required to play/enjoy the game. If you are impatient then yes, you will need to spend money but who's fault is that?
