I don't believe you. Starbucks would have opened three new stores in Belguim by the time I've finished typing this sentence! :p

I've only ever drunk coffee (Starbucks or otherwise) when I'm hung-over, so I can't vouch for the quality of their coffee.

Starbucks is like any other mid-price chain... like Chilli's or Bennigan's or Macaroni Grill or whatever. They're not amazing. But the quality is decent and consistent from place to place. The consistency is much more markable than any "excellence." Also they make decent coffee more readily available. Like Starbucks is available on a lot of turnpikes now... it's much better than anything else you could've gotten when you pulled off a turnpike.

In other words, there's a much better place for me to get coffee here, and I rarely get Starbucks. But if I'm traveling, or were I a visitor here, I probably wouldn't know that, and would settle quite happily for Starbucks.

No really i went to their site and checked the stores and Belgium wasn't listed, maybe there are some but not that i know off, and i don't really think Belgium is a starbucks country.

i wouldn't say Starbucks coffee was all that to be honest..

illy rules :)

illy good , Lavazza too

Perhaps they're waiting to see whether Belgium will continue existing! :p

Yes it's really sad at this moment in Belgium the politics after the election it's already 100 and more days and there still isn't a agreement between the south side (french speaking) of belgium and the north side(Flemish speaking) of belgium.

Starbucks coffee's main virtue is that it's pretty consistent from place to place. So, you're never going to get a truly vile cup of coffee there. On the other hand, you could say the same thing of Dunkin Donuts (at least in New England -- I've heard that DD is not as consistent in other regions).

the most people on that foto from that link you gave of belgium breaking up are really bad people with a bad attitude, they are big racists :(

I don't like Starbucks coffee. They just make it really strong and call it good. I can get the same effect by using twice as much Folgers as usual in my home coffee pot.

Starbucks? Only if caught in the rain or stuck at an airport franchise/outlet… :)

Like most chains the product is OK.
Personally I like Caffè Nero, but then I am not a coffee connoiseur… CN just have comfier seats. ;)

Alas, the most vile coffe I have had is usually from the small "mom 'n pop" cafes… sometimes smaller isn't better…

Oh boy here we go...paging Chundles

I don't like Starbucks' regular coffee. It's too strong and a bit too bitter for me. I like their other drinks, but only when someone competent is making them. I've had some really awful mixed coffee-drinks from Starbucks, and some really good ones as well.

I'll put it this way -- Starbucks is okay if that's all that's available, but I'll take a mom-and-pop place over Starbucks any day. There are some local places where I live that make coffee drinks that blow away anything you could get at a Starbucks.

How many times do we have to repeat this thread exactly?
I think we're aiming to have one thread per Starbucks store. Seems fair.

On topic: ever since I started getting just shots of espresso on ice, I've been much happier with their drinks. I still go out of my way to Peet's, though, and I'd love to find a truly good mom&pop coffee shop near to me.

It seems like the most people of you aren't really satisfied about it,, but still there are alot of starbucks in america aren't there, i really almost fell over on the keynote when they said they open like every day i don't some stores, every day?? that's realy crazy.. i always that starbucks coffee was like the worst coffee ever and that it only comes like in half a liter versions, seems not true, or is it?

Their regular coffee

isn't all that great, but I do like the seasonal stuff they have sometimes. Like pumpkin pie coffee or gingerbread coffee...yum!

But as someone who just visited Belgium not too long ago, you probably aren't missing much compared to your local brews.

Neither of those is true.

It's decent but not amazingly good coffee.

And it comes in several sizes, which are, basically, less than half a liter, half a liter, and more than half a liter.

Well, and espresso shots, and a small size for children (usually not used for the coffee, though).
