Oh thanks I really can't stand those rpg games.
rpg is different !
role playing game
rts is realtime strategy game.
RPG's are time wasters..
Oh thanks I really can't stand those rpg games.
It really depends on what sort of games you would like to play, if you are not playing high end demanding games like first person shooters, racing.. you will not need a 330m.
You can still play a lot of games with a 320m.
And to be honest, it would be stupid to play a first person shooter with a 13inch screen.
I will only play SC2 and a few old games I might like to play, I do not like call of duty and that sort of games..
If you are a hardcore gamer, then you should get a xbox or ps3 not a computer.
That can't be true. You're only confusing me more. =(
Err how so?
Because I'm hesitant, over which notebook to get (Asus or Apple). And now I just don't know.
shouldn't be a problem
9600gt on 1680x1050 Ultra Performance still gets 50 fps

If 8600M GT > 320M and the 9600M GT > 8600M GT, I fail to see how someone could be running a 9400M with most settings at high. I played the beta with a 9600M GT, and I can set everything at high and at native resolution and it will be smooth...at the start of the game with no units. More into the game when more units are present, it really does bog down.
Just using the 9600M GT, I don't see the 320M doing anything high, maybe more medium but wouldn't be surprised if it bogs down in battles.
A guy at the apple store told me that SC2 wont even RUN unless your system has discreet graphics? That didn't sound right to me...i dont care about playing in highest details. I just want to know that SC2 will be playable on the 320m (which is intetgrated). Will my computer need discreet graphics card to even install SC2???
Starcraft 2 is still in beta stage, we do not know what it will need at the end. If you set details to the highest level, it might struggle with speed in the middle of the game and that is quite understandble. You cannot play 100% of the game smooth with many cards, you will always get to the same point whatever your GPU is and how ever your card is powerful you cannot get maximum speed at all the times.
About SC2 with med-high or high-low settings you will play it smooth. It is said that 320m is just slightly slower than 9600m gt and if that is true, you will be play it with med-high or high-low, right.
What I do not understand is, why some people are too obsessed with details ? At the end of the day, you are playing the same game, it does not matter to see shodows or things like that in very high details, when you concantre on the game you will not notice the difference in time.
It is just marketting, they will always put high, ultra high, mega high, superb high details to games to make nvidia or ati rich.
You can still enjoy it with even low details if you love the game..
Taking into consideration that SC2 is still in beta is a good point but at the same time, even with a RETAIL release, I don't expect things to change dramatically in terms of performance. Sure there will definitely performance tweaks but I don't think it will be dramatic changes where a lower card becomes a solid card. But we will have to wait and see.
As for the attention to details, it depends on what kind of gamer you are. You have the casual gamer and hardcore gamer. Casual gamers don't care, they just want to play the game. Hardcore gamers on the other hand will look to upgrade their hardware as they see fit to give them the MAX. performance. Also, it doesn't hurt to have everything clear while playing.![]()
Better graphics are not a cheat or a scam, some people like them and have no problem paying extra for the performance. Enthusiasts would be mad if they took out the top end graphics options. If you don't like them buy a less powerful computer, and hell it's all just entertainment anyway.
I might as well just get a 15" MBP and build my own gaming desktop sometime later.

That guy doesn't know what he's talking about. I have the new 13" MBP 2.4GHz and installed SC2 beta. It will run perfectly on medium settings on native resolution. I was in a 1v1 match with roughly 100 food and the battles were very smooth. I also have the SC2 beta on my desktop (5770) and can't tell the difference between medium vs. ultra graphics settings. Note that at this point, the game will crash often because nvidia doesn't have the drivers yet.

I don't consider myself a hardcore gamer, but I do like my eye candy. Comparing medium settings on the MBP vs. ultra settings on my desktop (5770), I honestly can't tell the difference. the game looks great on both.
We're in the beta. It's not released yet.
Damn it, Apple genius is so skeptical about my issue, and she wouldn't believe me (i didn't misspell it, it's 'she'). I left without a single hope of asking another genius to get the newer one.
Back to the point, there are some issues with my friend, which are mainly caused by the bootcamp drivers for the nVidia. Works fine, fps 35+ with medium settings.
@bigmanathome24, Doesn't matter if you have higher specs or not. Friendly neighbor (15 years old) got into beta, and he can't apply medium settings. It's all randomn (and some are not).
