Starcraft 2 Lags Everything Else...

I have the same problem as OP.

Macbook Pro 2.53ghz, 4gb, 250gb hdd, 10.6.4 with driver update. System Temp is 50-53 C based on SMC. At times running extended desktop with 22' acer as main display via mini DP to VGA.

Activity monitor shows 1.3 gb free (green) and about 50% cpu with starcraft open windowed in background on battle.net menus.

This bug seems to affect inputs intermittently. Also ive noticed it makes the inertial scrolling choppy.

It is annoying but not nearly as bad as bootcamp and no BetterTouchTool for my magic mouse.

i <3 osx

I know in world of warcraft there's a command that caps the frame rate when the game is in the background... that *might* help reduce the pressure on the CPU..

Not sure if it can be done in starcraft... you should look it up

Did you even read my post? The system stutter it causes is not a performance issue. It is some sort of bug.

Yes i read it,

and Obviously you have no idea what your talking about.

operating systems are not designed to cope with games in window mode, games take over your systems functions not to mention having to render the video in the game and also your OS.

OSX is pretty poor at gaming at the moment any way and your just pushing the envelope to far with unrealistic expectations.

Well that is just not true. I don't have any issues like that in any other game I play on the mac and it is not like SC2 is running in the background in full force. It is just the starting screen. I can run 3 WoW in windows, encode a movie, have photoshop open and surf the web without any of those strange lags that occur when SC2 running at the starting screen!

Wow is like 7 years old or somthing mate.

Graphics are crap and i can run that on integrated GPU!

Starcraft has all kinds of graphical advancements.

Do not run games in window mode. They never run properly. ( new games anyway )

Well I hardly believe the SC2 login screen is so demanding that it it cripples such a system! Obviously I run full screen when I play, I just have to turn on window mode to tab out.

Uhh... you realize that all the games you mentioned are many years old right? Starcraft 2 pushes even the latest macbook pros to their limits. Running it in OSX is another setback.

I don't know what campaigns you are in, but I can't imagine taking a breather for web surfing during SC2.

Common practice in bronze league? xD

Well I only play online and I take breaks after a few games and still want to be able to receive ingame chat msgs.

I have had the same problem, however I've noticed it since i've upgraded from 10.5.0 to 10.6.5. While i noticed a slight boost in FPS in game, the system performance has been drastically reduced. It used to run like glass! I've tried booting in 64 bit as well and running SC2 in 32bit mode via the info pane with still no change. I would love for this kink to be worked out...
