First off, answering some questions:

Q: Okay, so if you pre-order, can you play the beta already? :p
A: No, but when you pre-order it, you will get it the day Blizzard releases it.

Q: Can I ask, sorry if it's been answered before, whether it's playable on the mac without bootcamp? Or does it not support it?
A: Blizzard is very famous for releasing games for Windows and Mac, and there are no cider ports. For now, you can only play with Windows, but within few days, Blizzard will release the Beta for Mac.

Has anyone played SC2 Beta on a new 17" MBP. I was curious on the results and what's the highest quality you were able to play without too much slow down. I would assume the graphics card will take more of a hit on a 17" (than a 15") because of a higher resolution and more screen to cover.

Nope, the screen resolution for 17" MBP doesn't matter (although it will slow down by 1~5 fps, tried it with my uncle's mbp 15").
It's because 17" MBPs have 512MB of VRAM, and therefore have more power. As Blizzard have announced before, minimum of 512MB is required to play maxed out.

Im looking forward to see if there is a difference in performance between Mac OS and Win in this game. I sure hope so at least :)

The only place authorized to give out beta keys for pre-orders is Gamestop. You get your key within 1 business day of pre-ordering on their website.

Both of these statements are incorrect. If you pre-order now from either Gamestop or from Amazon you will be given a Beta key.

I just preordered my copy of Starcraft 2 today. I'm still waiting for the Mac client to be released, though.

Luckily, I kept my backup PC so after SC 2 completes installation, I'll be able to check it out before the Mac client is released.

So you can download the beta client more than once with the same key? What about on multiple computers - can you download the same client on two machines?

Yes. The only purpose the key serves is to add the SC 2 beta "game" onto your battle.net account. You can access your account from whichever computer(s) you'd like and install it.

has anyone tried this on the 17" yet?
There is a lot mot pixels to push there so interested on how it preforms agains the 15" standard res

Played 3 games of StarCraft 2 on my MBP 13" 320M last night on medium settings. After about 10 minutes I forgot I was playing on a laptop and totally got into the game.

It's weird because I also booted Red Alert 3 and it doesn't run as well as StarCraft 2, even though it's like 2 years older. Doesn't matter though because SC2 is the better game.

Also, to get around the screen flicker issue I just clicked options on the main menu, then clicked back and it stopped flickering. Worked great after that.

where are you guys getting the download ?

I just preorderd my copy from gamestop today thinking i was going to be able to download the beta as had been advertised ...and the only option was for PC ?? WTF ??

Well if you used something called the internet, you would know that Blizzard hasnt put out a Mac beta yet.

But thats why we have boot camp :D

By the way, Amazon gives you a beta key (within 5 business days) of pre-ordering the game. It says so right on the page:
http://www.amazon.com/Starcraft-II-Wings-Liberty-Pc/dp/B000ZKA0J6/

At GameStop you have to put $5 down but Amazon you don't have to put anything down. No brainer....

If you order online and do in store pickup for gamestop you dont get charged until the game comes out.

Thats rather awesome! :)
On another note, has anyone played this on the new 13" (with 320M gpu) on an external monitor with at least full-hd res? Curious about framerates then :)

Yeah, looks like the Mac beta client is just under 3 GB. I started the DL this AM but won't have a chance to play it until probably late tonight or tomorrow night. Definitely looking forward to it.

Also, would be nice to get a rough frames comparison in similar game situations from those running the same hardware configs. I have a 15" i7 Hi-Res and I'll post some results from the Mac version of the game once I'm up and running.

@oripaamoni

could you give some preformace numbers ? :)
what system you got, what settings in sc2, what framerate ect
