For all those who have the latest 13'' MBP 2010..

What type/kind of mouse are you guys using for the game? I bought a wireless Logitech M305 mouse and it is lagging severely during the game. Badly need to resolve this mouse lag issue (and yes I did check the reduce mouse lag option on SC2) Any options that you guys might suggest?

I'm using a wireless logitech revoloution or something. it's a nice mouse...but a little finicky for star craft.

I'm also using a Macbook Pro 13 inch purchased in August 2010 from Apple.
8GB of ram.
10.6.5

I shouldn't have to have it on the lowest settings for it to make this big of a difference.

I don't want to bootcamp. This will make me purchase an imac or mac pro.

New Mac = new test!

Mac Model: iMac 11,1
Operating System: Mac OS X "Snow Leopard" 10.6.6
Processor Speed: intel Core i5 750
RAM: 12 GB DDR3 8500 - 1067MHZ RAM
Video card: ATI Radeon HD 4850 - 512MB RAM
Screen resolution: 2560 x 1440 (native)
Default settings: High
Modifications to default settings: put shaders back to medium.

Playability: Smooth. FPS around 29-30 while playing. With shaders on high it sometimes goes back to 10-20 and then back to 30 FPS, so that's why I put shader on medium. Seems to work fine. Cut scenes go at a steady 59 FPS.

Just thought I'd bring this thread back up since I have been seeing so many people ask about SCII. I guess I'm interested to know how it games on the refreshed MBPs too. And hopefully it will help people out so we don't have to create unnecessary threads (=

^^ i played on ultra last night for 4 hours, it was really really smooth. Perfect imo.

I have 2.3 ghz quad 15' anti rez

I'll be posting a video soon as I'm editing it in imovie, but SC2 runs surprisingly well in OSX with the new 13". I mean the 2010 wasn't bad, but I feel the CPU really helps in not letting the game get bogged down. I felt that happened a bit with the 2010, yet on the 2011 things stay fairly smooth. The graphical settings stay about the same as before, but with the CPU, it evens it all out tremendously.

That's really cool! I just tried SC2 on my computer as well. And I agree, it runs surprisingly smooth. I thought I'd be stuck on low settings, but the automatic custom settings that I got after install work really nicely! I hadn't played this game on anything other than low settings until now, and I'm completely mind boggled. =D

Anyone got a FPS for the 2011 17" and 13" MBP?

Just interested to see how the Intel HD3000 handles 3d...

Just hover your mouse over one of the buttons at the top (menu, I think.)

Yes. Hovering your mouse over the menu tab, while in a game displays Time, FPS, wireless strength, and battery %.

So here are my results from my laptop. It's older but for those thinking of running bootcamp, it's a good note. I just tested Windows 7 in Bootcamp. Normally I would run Starcraft 2 in OS X on Medium. With Shaders on low, I would get 59 FPS. With Shaders on Medium, I would get 29 FPS.

With Windows 7, I'm getting 50 FPS (this is almost double) with Shaders on Medium. On low, I was getting 107 FPS (this is almost double). Clearly there are some issues with Mac OS X and the video drivers. Turning the Settings to High, I was getting 22 FPS. This is with the Macbook Pro listed below in my sig.

Alright, I just logged onto SC to do a really quick check. I am at school studying for a midterm, so hopefully the readings aren't too far off.

I'm on low shaders, and most settings on either low or medium, with a couple at high. I went a couple minutes into a game and got an average of around 50, give or take some.

EDIT: forgot to state that i have the base model of the 2011 13" mBP.. Also off batter right now because I'm at school.
EDIT 2: I just realized that i had previously capped the framerate so my readings are actually inaccurate. I'll wait til I get home and take off the cap to get a better reading. Sorry (=

UPDATE: low shaders with settings at low/medium(i customized my settings a bit to suit my likes, i'd say it's about halfway between low and medium settings overall) gets me ~80 fps, which is pretty good i think.

I've got a Mac Pro 1,1
2x2.66 ghz processor
11gb of ram
7300gt video card

What settings can I expect to run on Starcraft II with this set up? Will I need to run Windows? I know I need to upgrade my video card but I don't have the resources at the moment.

Mac Model:

Operating System: Mac OSX 10.6.7

Processor Speed: 2.26Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo (3LM L2 Shared Cache)

RAM: 4gb DDR3 (1067mhz)

Video card: Nvidia 9400M w/256mb dedicated VRAM

Screen resolution: 1280x800 native res

Default settings: Low

Modifications to default settings: Everything ULTRA besides shaders which are on low...

Playability: A max of 70 FPS, a minimum of 10 FPS on 4v4.

^^ May seem inconceivable, but it sure is true. I get hiccups occasionally, however native res, those settings, and OSX 10.6.7 gets me an avg of around high twenties to low forties in the FPS. Smooth...
