What news! Sitting in front of a touchscreen for hours on end will be just like taking over a failing farm for reals!

After I've gotten in my practice with this game, I'll be ready to leave technology behind and become a farmer. I can't wait to tell my grandfather about it so he can deed me his farm in his will!

No pre-order for me, but I'll pick this one up. Disappointed there's no MP, me and the wife would lose so much time.

How does a pre-order actually benefit an app? Is it really as base as getting paid 3 weeks or so before you deliver? There's got to be something more to it, business wise? Right...

There are in-app purchases from Monsanto too, and for realism’s sake the player castrates piglets without anesthetic, forces cows to stay pregnant almost continuously, and keeps sows in crates little bigger than their own bodies for their entire lives.

It's a really fantastic game. While I usually play on my Switch or Mac, it will be be nice to have the extra option of playing it on my phone too. The controls work well on mouse so it should translate well to touchscreen.

That overhead view and graphics style sort of reminds me of the original Zelda game on the NES.

Link to the Past on the SNES is more accurate. I have seen a lot people mixing up the capabilities of the NES and SNES. The NES was without any certainty of a doubt completely unable to play a game with this much detail, and let's not forget how vast the game is. If your looking for a direct comparator, Harvest Moon on the SNES(And its many sequels on newer consoles) is the one to go for, since this is Stardew Valley is based of that series.

The game looks fun and I appreciate no in app purchases. However, I'm a little over the retro game look as its been done to death. We've got fairly advanced mobile devices that can provide a much better experience.

Nevertheless, I'm gonna check it out when it gets released.

I just want The Settlers HD back on iOS with 64bit support – with randomize map and multiplayer mode (Internet?) – that would be the success of all time :) Please Gameloft do the move and make me happy not only me.

Ugh, peasants. Settled people. Where is the pastoral nomads simulation?

Hehehe... it’s anthropologist humor. Don’t worry if you didn’t laugh. It wasn’t really funny.

Ultra popular farming simulation RPG Stardew Valley is set to expand to iOS devices starting on October 24, developer ConcernedApe announced today.

For those unfamiliar with Stardew Valley, it's an incredibly in-depth game where players take on the role of a character who takes over their grandfather's small, failing farm, working to bring it back to prosperity by planting and tending crops, raising animals, and crafting goods to sell. It's similar to other games like Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing.

Players are also tasked with fighting monsters to earn money, mining ores, getting to know all the townspeople, and engaging in various social activities within the town. There are cyclical seasons and different crops and activities to partake in as the game progresses through different years.

The mobile version of Stardew Valley is the full version of the game that "plays almost identically to all the other versions." It has been rebuilt for touchscreen controls by London-based mobile development studio, The Secret Police.

All single-player content from the 1.3 patch, including the night market, skull cavern changes, and new character events, will be available, but the game will not support multiple players.

Those who have played Stardew Valley on the PC will be able to transfer their save data to the iOS version of the game using iTunes.

I cannot think of how bad of a user experience this will be on touch screens... pretty much every game ported to touch screens is way inferior than their console/desktop counter part.

This is not necessarily true. Final fantasy tactics I thought would be difficult on iphone, but it was actually quite good and fluid to navigate.

FTL and XCOM are two other games where the touch controls are great and even arguably better than Desktop or console versions.
