Quite happy with my choice of starlight. Still have silver and space gray MBPs in the house, it's a nice addition to the color palette.

I've never tried but just knowing how the SSD is slower compared to the higher end models and 8GB is the bare minimum long term I wouldn't want to edit that kind of video on this machine routinely. I would want 16GB/512SSD minimum for that kind of long term use and at that price you should just buy a 14" MacBook Pro. Best Buy has them on sale for $1799 frequently and to be honest if I had known they were running that deal a week after it was too late to return the 15" Air I have I would have snagged one up.

That isn't a knock against the 15" MacBook Air... its the perfect Apple MacBook for me. However when you start adding options it doesn't make sense to not get the 14" Pro as it just a much better computer all the way around.
If its much better you should have waited... are you tallking about M1 MBPs or M2 MBPs? I think the M1 Max MBPs are amazing value at 2899 on Apple Refurb. with 64gb of ram and 32c gpu...and 16 inch screen! I am aiming at those ones...

Stop having such an opinion. Macbook Airs are bought because they are lighter, and people don't want to spend more money for extra performance they don't need.

Why do yall like the Air so much? Just get a Pro...fans, better performance, better speakers, only reason to get the Air iis for the 15 inch size, is that why? Reallya?

I prefer the lighter weight, and don't need the extra performance.

That said, the next time around I might opt for the MBP because I've been really jonesing for ProMotion. Just wish I could get one in Starlight!

I just got a MBA in starlight figuring I might as well get a special color since silver/gray are available on the pros and the blue seems to ware poorly.

Pretty much immediately I didn't like it and returned it for a silver and I love the silver.

Starlight is a beautiful color but as soon as I got it I realized all my stuff is gray/white/black and it looked off yellow next to all my stuff. It also felt a touch feminine and like it should be my girlfriends computer rather than mine, it matches her starlight watch after all.

[...] But at the same time, space grey is safe for a reason. It's definitely the one that's most complimentary with ALL wallpapers.
[...] I thought "the standard wallpaper looks bad with this starlight, lemme find something better. So I tried setting a bunch of others, and none of them really felt complimentary. Only some of them that had a warm tone. [...]

It shouldn't come as a surprise that I'm not the only one thinking like this, but oh boy am I glad to "meet" someone who thinks like this!

I have a rose gold M1 MBA here and I kind of regret having bought it in this color because very few wallpapers actually feel nice on it and I can't not notice it. It's weirdly distracting and definitely isn't/wasn't the case with silver or space gray.

I went with the silver.

I have had a space grey Air for two years, and it now feels boring.

I liked the midnight at first, but as you can see at the Apple store, the finish is so weak that the paint is easily peeling off, especially on the USB ports and the MagSafe, which I hated.

I really loved the startlight when it was closed, but I didn't like it when it was opened because it is a bit too yellowish for my taste.
I also consider starlight at first, but end up with silver. Silver looks cleaner and more industrious but it’s mainstream color (it’s very similar with HP or other brands at glance). If I have to buy again, I am still unsure which color will I choose between these two. Lol.

I owned a 13" Midnight M2 MBA for several months, and am now selling it because I got a 15". I went with Starlight, because I honestly can't stand the fingerprints, dust and scuffs on the Midnight color anymore. And Starlight just looks soooooo clean, elegant. Wonderful, essentially. Midnight is a great color but it comes with such big downsides that I don't think I'll ever but another product with that finish.

Nice to "meet" you, too 😄
I'm sure we have a touch of OCD in us. I think our perspective is that it's the picture that's the art, not the frame of it, though it can be very complimentary if done right.

I really wanted a "iMac orange" or "iMac green" MBA exactly like that. I'm convinced I would've absolutely loved that.
Maybe one day...
Before buying the Studio Display, I was also debating about getting the colored iMacs and which color. I was torn between green and white. But imagine the green, with a warm colored wallpaper? I'm so glad I went with the studio display, and have a thinner black frame. Now almost all wallpaper AND desk/accessories looks fine with it.

I see what you mean. I really want to believe that it wouldn't have been as much of a problem because most of my favorite wallpapers are (mainly) green, but who knows? It might have been a pretty expensive regret.

The rose gold MBA, however, is such a weirdly specific warmth that not even all warmer/more orange wallpapers I have really match it.
You live and learn, I guess :D

My wife likes Starlight, it matches her Apple Watch. If they release an iPhone in Starlight, she will have that.

For me, Mac notebooks are silver and silver is the color of Mac notebooks. It's just the color they should be. Looks clean and professional. Clear anodized aluminum lets the metal be what it is.

Starlight is a gorgeous color honestly....But i dont think Space Gray or Silver is boring though, like many people in this thread think, for some reason...I can go either way.

The 15" MBA weighs the same as the 14" MBP. The difference is 0.09kg.

I went to the store one more time, and I've decided starlight ain't for me. Now I'm just trying to figure out, space grey or silver. lol

I wanted a large screen and a lightweight computer. Not to mention an M1 Pro or M2 Pro is complete overkill for my workflow. I love my 15" Air.

Th

That makes sense, but the diffference in weight between the 14" MBP and the 15" Air is very small.
You have to remember that the 15” MBA is also substantially thinner than the 14” MBP giving the illusion of more portability albeit the other dimensions of the 15” are obviously bigger. Additionally, it’s a $700 price difference MSRP. For me;

MBP 16” - desktop replacement
MBA 13” - couch or travel (iPad replacement)
MBA 15” - spouse wanted a big screen and doesn’t care about ‘Pro’ features.
