Just returning to this. We have the Nest Hello setup to announce on various Google/Nest home devices around the house. It’s really handy, but I’d gladly switch to HomePods and the better audio if it could be done with Starling.
Im pretty sure you need HSV to announce people on the HomePod however, chime will still work. There is, of course, always a work around lol (Shortcuts)...

(Need some help) When I scan the QR code after logging into my account I get "accessory not found" message. I could use advice on how to fix this error and get past this. I'm scanning the QR code with my iPhone and yes it's on the same WiFi network as my laptop and the Starling Hub.

I connected the Sterling Hub directly into my IPS's router via ethernet cable and I can't get past the QR code scan page.
I use the Google Nest WiFi mesh which is also connected directly to my router. Everything is on the same WiFi network.

Just out of frustration I activated my ISP's routers WiFi (which I've never used nor turned on) and the Sterling Hub connected to it and I am able to scan the QR code just fine and use the Sterling Hub like it's intended to be used.

The problem is that's not the network anything is using, so the Sterling home Hub is on a network by itself with nowhere to go and nothing to do :(

It appears I'm living a network nightmare and not smart enough to use the hub & no I'm not going to turn off the Google Nest WiFi and use my ISP's Router WiFi.

Does anyone know if cameras can be viewed on Apple TV control center when using the Starling hub and Nest cameras? And do doorbell alerts come through on Apple TV?

Yes all is possible. It basically becomes a HomeKit enabled doorbell. FWIW, Logitech just announced (released?) a doorbell with HKSV that interests you.

For me, Google/Nest still has HSV beat. But I wouldn't mind giving the Starling hub a try again with the new features that were introduced this year.

To my surprise, I’ve had zero issues with the Starling hub. I’m currently using the Nest Hello and 4 Nest Protects. I expected some connectivity issues but nothing. If there’s an update to my WiFi or a power outage, they’re usually the first accessories to pop back up in HomeKit and their customer support is outstanding. I’m just not a fan of the recordings in the Nest app (skip 15 seconds, no fine tuning). Also I fear that Google or Apple will pull the the plug on it one day with a software update.

I lke Nest's solid/full recording as opposed to HSV's motion based events. But I'm pretty sure I only like it because it's there and I've never actually needed it for anything important. It's just (obviously) much smoother to scrub through the full recording. I tried Starling once and liked it but had some audio issues on live video. I'm pretty sure that's fixed as I was a tester for that firmware update. I do worry about them pulling the plug but maybe we can dream of a day Nest and HomeKit play together on an official level :D

Yeah that would be nice. Hopefully with that CHOIP protocol they been talking about.

I just got a Starling hub and it's working great with the Nest Protects and Thermostat. Is there any update or further user feedback on the cameras (Nest Hellos)?

I’m using it with a Nest Hello. Zero complaints. Works better than my native HomeKit cameras. Do you have any specific questions? I’d be happy to answer.

I have the Starling Home Hub and have never been able to get it to work. It won't connect to my WiFi. I plug it directly into my network but I can't seem to get it to work with my Google Nest WiFi Mesh. For some reason it won't connect to WiFi.

Now if I disable, turn off, etc the Nest WiFi and turn on the built in WiFi on my Modem it connects and works fine. Since It doesn't do me any good on a different WiFi network with a different SSID I haven't been able to use it. I've never used the built in WiFi on my Modem, it's always been disabled since day one. I gave up....... Starling Tech support was no help either.

How does video recording work? Is it live video only, or how do you access recordings in the Home app?

Only HomeKit Secure Video cameras will show recordings in the Home app. The Nest Hello with Starling is not that so recordings will have to be viewed in the Nest or Google Home app. Otherwise, it’s just live streaming in the Apple Home app.

Are your Nest Hello camera notifications working at all in the Home app? For the past month or so, I can only get a notification when the doorbell rings. I get nothing when motion is detected. The accessory tiles do light up when it detects motion, person, etc. It just never sends a notification. I’ve contacted Starling Home Hub support, called Apple support, and I even deleted my home and re-added all of my devices. After all of that, it still won’t send me motion notifications. I’ve had to resort to the Nest app for the notifications.

Truth be told, I only use the Nest app for notifications for a few reasons:
1) I can quickly distinguish which camera the notification is coming from
2) Rich notifications on the Apple Watch which disappeared for HomeKit Cameras somewhere during iOS 14/WatchOS 7.
3) Facial recognition and package detection, plus sound and notifications for the various zones I have set up.

FWIW, Lately I been noticing that a few of my Logitech Circle 2’s aren’t displaying all motion notifications that they used to like when my dogs go into my basement. But I do get them for the Logitech app. I’m thinking it has something to do with HomeKit and not the third party. There’s something screwy going on with notifications, for me at least.

Lastly, if you got to the online Starling Hub dashboard, there’s a setting that says “notify on important camera events only” Is yours toggled on?

It is toggled on. It does seem that somewhere during the life of iOS 14, something changed. I used to be able to “show separate tiles” in the camera to change notifications for each individual motion sensor. Somewhere along the way, that disappeared. And when they happened, poof…my notifications were gone. Here’s to hoping that iOS 15 fixes the issues!

Toggling it off might help then since it won’t limit which notifications you get.

Even still, with all the different tiles you get with the Nest Hello, they all showed up as a generic motion detected notification even if the tile was able to distinguish between, say, zone 2, a face or a sound.

Hopefully this is just because Apple started messing with things early to prepare for an awesome iOS 15 experience lol.

Anyways, now that HKSV will have unlimited cameras, I will be switching to the Logitech Circle View doorbell. I always prefer native integration but didn’t want to be limited to 5 cameras. Unless the Nest Hello will get a FW update for Matter integration and become natively supported.
