Exact opposite here. The MBA 13 performs superbly for everything I need it to do and nothing, I mean nothing, could change my mind at this point. Just a fantastic computer. If the redesign is that important to you, then wait. But frankly I love the current design.

Im starting to regret buying a 2013 air. because the 2014 will probably have a major new design and I realize I could have waited another year.Should I return it and wait?

thanks in advance

MacBook Airs, like MacBooks before them, are a more inexpensive product with less power and thusly will typically be the machines that will age quickest. If you were talking about a fully-decked out 15" MacBook Pro or a fully decked out iMac, in which you were spending at least $2000 (if iMac) or $2800 (if 15" MacBook Pro), then I'd say that your machine will last you a good 4-7 years before you have an inclination to replace it. A 13" MacBook Air is proportionately more inexpensive and slower; therefore it will likely age proportionately faster. This being said, I'd expect a 13" MacBook Air to go a good 3-5 years before you have an inclination to replace it. One whole year is already 20-34% of that amount of time.

Given this, I wouldn't fret about the next MacBook Air; you bought it now because you were due for a new machine now. Just as others were due a year before you and others a year after you. This is not a problem. When you are next due for a new MacBook Air 3-5 years from now, that is when you'll move to whatever new body style is out then. For now, Haswell Airs are comparable in performance to Ivy Bridge Airs while running at slower clock speeds and gaining 5 additional hours of battery life. That's not bad!
