There is no way he bought an iMac Lemon. Apple hasn't made iMac's with fruit named colors in a decade.

Well, assuming the query is genuine I would suggest three basic initial steps in the following sequence:
1. Reset Safari
2. Repair Permissions
3. Shutdown Computer and reboot.

That at least cleans up the system. If problems persist further analysis can be done...
