Hi, I have a question. My aunt gets static charged at work because of the carpet. Everytime when she hits metal she gets a shock. Is it possible to harm your iPhone X with metal housing? She doens't get a shock when she touches her iPhone.

If there is a lot of static electricity she should always touch something else BEFORE touching her phone.
Sounds like the phone is not grounded if it is not giving her a shock.
Thanks for your reply. Sometimes she forgets it and walks away with the phone and when touching a door lever she gets a shock from the door, not from the phone. Is that a problem?
Should not be a problem holding the phone in your hand and another part of your body touching a grounded object to discharge. You just do not want the discharge to go through the phone. Electricity is lazy and will always take the easy path.
