Add me to the list of people who've never had a problem with Steam. In fact, I like the way it works, I will only buy from there because it is easy and convenient. If you can't get online once a month or so to reactivate then it seems like you're in a bad situation.

I used to crack every game I owned because I can't stand disk swapping, code wheels, or some of the other obnoxious DRM that is out there. Steam's DRM, having to be online, is perfect, for me.

I hate to say it, but your experiences seem to be more the exception then the rule.

I have steam / games installed on multiple machines. No problems.

You have to
- use the same account (games are saved with account)
- log off inactive machine

Is there any reason you don't want to contact steam?

I submitted my problem to Steam last night.
Only e-mail I got was a confirmation of my account (account for steam website - different username than my Steam client login).

I have yet to try the game again as I've been editing, but I'll let you know how it goes.
Do they have telephone customer service during business hours?

They e-mailed me back saying "We don't yet support Mac" and basically dismissed my issue.

Those scallywags.

**** them.

..Then say you have a Windows PC..

Personally I've never had an issue with Steam, and think it is one of the greatest online services around.

Ok, so I re-emailed STEAM.

They misunderstood my question.

Apparently I created a NEW account and activated my product on that account and was able to play for some reason.

It was actually my old account that I needed to get back in touch with, and Steam dug up the info and reset my password.

I am in the process of getting my games up and running, Steam was more thorough in finding a solution to my problem and maybe they have solved it.

So things are starting to look up

OK, so I was right when I assumed you weren't logged into your original (old) account on your new machine! Now I don't feel so bad for repeating my question three times. :D

Haha, I guess so.

The thing is, I didn't think Steam would allow me to create a new profile while installing those games, yet having no way of playing them.

Now I must figure out what would be a great new game to get for my new i7?

So you're saying it was operator error, right?

By all means check out Team Fortress 2, it really is a blast to play. With 9 very distinctive classes you can really mix things up depending on your mood.

Left 4 Dead 2 is also fun but being the newest release it is probably the most expensive Valve game out right now.

EDIT: Just noticed that L4D2 is on sale through Thursday for $24.99.

I logged in on an account that let me log in and install HL2+CS and get as far as a server join list.
Being under the impression that Steam has strict piracy measures, I didn't think I would get that far on that account without running into a cd-key hiccup.

After clarifying my initial letter, they pointed me to an old login of mine and reset my password and it works.

I think it was a matter of being on the same page, and me forgetting a 5 year old login.
