I watched that keynote for the first time in 2012. I could not believe how ahead of its time the iPhone was... just remarkable to watch.

So Why are Apple trying to do everything themselves now?
No one would agree with you more than Apple. In fact, all I see them being accused of these days is not having a broad product line with dozens of phone models and monthly releases. While others complain about the partnerships they do have through the iTunes Store and apps like passbook. Most people want Apple to somehow re-invent and out-innovate themselves when they're doing just fine.

Compared with today the Safari performance seemed not that impressive - or was it caused by a poor WI-FI during the presentation?

Steve was great though.

I really miss Steve.:(

Yeah, he was a truly remarkable man. I just finished reading Isaacson's book and I feel like there's a big hole where he used to be. Yes, I know, lots of you will have a blast with riffing on the "hole" comment. Have at it.

Hannah has been working at the same Starbucks for more than a half-decade.

Working at SB for 5 years sounds a bit sad but working there for 'more and a half decade', sounds like an achievement.

I was reading an article about a guy trying out the number somewhen after the keynote, not knowing if it was real and asking them if they are getting lots of calls. Turned out they did and they also knew why.

Couldn't find the article, but it was probably linked on daringfireball.

Slow Google Maps performance

Wow this video is an eye-opening reminder of how far smartphones have come in the past 6 years! Look at that SLOW Google Maps refresh rate compared to what we are all used to today on iPhone 5 / Nexus 4 / etc. Steve even comments on how it's "catching up" with him at one point. Very interesting.

Even funnier..

It would be funnier if someone that was rich called the store and actually put in an order for 4000 lattes.

Of course that would be really expensive and then what would you do with 4000 day old, cold lattes..

While it might not be your intention - your comments come off as pretentious.

I usually filter comments through my secretary precisely to avoid such unintended offence to those with more refined and delicate sensibilities than mine, however she's just popped out to fetch me a soy chai with hand ground spices in a bamboo mug.

That was funny.
