Exactly what it's been since the day Jobs came back; LCD. Lowest Common Denominator. The quick cheap buck, only at an Apple premium based solely on momentum and not true innovation. C'mon, the iPod was nothing more than the 60's transistor radio fad of the last decade. Free music; Who knew?

Actually, it's much more profitable than it's ever been. But thanks.

Thanks. Hopefully it will end up yet another memo at Cupertino; for Jobs to poop on.

HEY... LOOKIE WHAT I JUST BOUGHT!

http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/shop/Video/Blu-ray-Disc-Players/model.DMP-B15K

More of my money NOT going to Apple. For an iPod, an iPhone, an iPad or any other iPOS, or a ludicrous 2005 technology Mac Pro.

:apple:

ahah great stay away from things that work!
keep using your windows junk
as long as u r happy, everybody is
so the iphone was not true innovation?
right, you are out of your mind

I feel sorry for Mr Jobs. He's a billionaire, but he is also paranoid and at least as megalomanian as Louis XIV.

It's time that Apple gets a new CEO.

ahah funny
i am sorry for you that just do not understand...
new ceo...right
stevo is the only reason of apple rebirth, get a clue son
a comment like yours can come only from someone that wants everyone the same, not recognizing differences or allowing them
that idea never worked

Yay for iPhone updates... Im thinking they will do something like they did with the iPad. Have a background image on the back screen where the apps are.

And blu-ray... why would you want it right now? Wait till DVDs are gone, and we has 'dvds' on like... usb sticks :p The future...

:D +A :D I hope so!

*Sigh* And you were doing so well until those bolded sentences... Some of those conclusions you drew were down-right irrelevant!

Well done, sir. Agreed.

ahaha right
not any longer than 2014...
sir just stop sniffing whatever you sniff
and buy a pc if you dont like what apple offers
oh wait maybe aint that better right?
jobs made apple and the icrap as you call it will shine much longer that you think
lets just hope stevo stays there as much as he can, cause as soon as he leaves apple is doomed as history taught us already

I'm going to go out on a limb and say you never read the quoted posts...

The quoted post and parent say that they thing that Apple Computers is much stronger than the iPhone branch of the company. So why would they switch to PCs? That's just plain ignorant to blurt out "buy a pc".

I was going to go on and make more arguments in order to challenge you to make an actual thought provoking comment but due to the nature of your last 3 posts here I feel that it may be a futile task.

I'll leave you to your koolaid sipping ignorance. If you actually care to read a full post and make valid discussion I'd be happy to respond.

i read the post about icrap
the point about the organ seller does not make any sense, sorry
unless you can give me example of any of those organ sellers that had 40 billion in cash and that after 5 years went bankrupt
apple decision making has been brilliant since Jobs came back, as we all can see
i do not see the iphone getting in danger by the "casio" company you were talking about
since those companies do not have what makes the iphone great (besides the multitouch) the app store with + 100k apps and growing faster than any other thing in the market
the i pad is still not sure how succesfull will it be, i wont buy one (and trust me, i would really love to get it ) since for now does not fit my needs (no usb to transfer picture from my compact flash, and i need at least 150 gb hd), so i will need to wait few years if ever they ll make it for my needs
but i m not here talking crap about it or saying steve is this steve is that... what a joke
i think sincerely it will be a huge success, we will see

i don't like people talking cr@p about apple or jobs only because apple do not offer what they want...lol like spoiled kids
you dont like what apple offers? simple buy something else
apple for my needs is great, it is a problem free experience
i am not by any mean a computer geek and do not wanna spend time becoming one
macs offer great laptops that just work, dont have usually problems, its OS is the best and most reliable in the market, i m not afraid to get any virus...what apple offers me is great for my work it just works and does not give me any problems. i am happy to pay More for that, if i werent i would buy pc...without talking s##t about jobs and apple

apple has always offered less than other companies, and focus more on the few things they offer. less way to customize it, less options,
they want to give customers a problem free experience, and usually they accomplish that (not counting the aperture 3 launch)
blue ray gives problems, its menu implementation is buggy and i guess apple does not want to deal w that, cant blame apple for that
you can still buy an external br and get a third party application to run it on apple i read, is it true? if so where is the problem?

anyway when you guys are done wining like spoiled babies and talking crap about steve jobs because apple does not give what you really want we can talk
i am not a fanboy, i love apple cause they make great products and give great customer service.
of course i do not consider them perfect
i ll be the first to buy something else if they stop delivering what they do now.
i just cant stand people complaining complaining offending just because they dont get what they want
guess what?
you have choice to buy something else...!

Well that seemed a lot more thought out. :)

I feel like your arguements kind of go back on each other. Some people feel like the new branch to the iPhone was a stretch. Apple trying to jump into an entirely different market than what it was built up on. Then the iPad compounds on this. The conflict comes in that these people are saying Apple should CUT DOWN their product lines to less items. So they would not be complaining that Apple DOESN'T have what they want. They are saying that Apple should just focus on what they do best.

Innovation is one of those things that they do very well, which is evident with the iPhone.

It's also important to note that what got Apple back on track when Jobs came back to Apple was that he TRIMMED down the products lines. He got rid of computers competing in markets that were not their major targets.

Now Apple does have a LOT more capitol and they can take riskier moves. I think that financially they have no problem trying to compete in the phone and tablet markets. It's not like they are going to dominate Motorola, HTC, or Nokia any time soon. They are doing very well but I don't see them putting anyone out of a job.

The other thing I'd like to notice is what gives Apple the public image that is making them so much money. They like to be "the little guy". The one who's your buddy. The company that knows what you want and is going to give you the best experience with that. This feat is far easier to accomplish when you're smaller than when you're bigger. As you get bigger you have more people you have to please. This is why product lines also need to increase. Apple can't get by with an iMac and a Macbook anymore. They need a Mac Pro, Mac Mini, iPad, etc... to make everyone else happy. It should not be too far of a jump to see product lines nearing the complexity of some of their competitors.

Now I will admit that it's far to soon to say if these are good things or not. The only scare is that Apple tends to not dabble in things but rather try and jump headfirst. This seems mostly due to Steve Job's great confidence in himself. He also tends to do things that HE feels are the best without too much customer input. Right now, he has been on target, but what happens when he comes up with the first product that bombs? What is that going to do to the company as far sales? How will that effect their image as an innovative company?

Just food for thought.

13 year olds who can't use the shift key properly can't even remember a time when Jobs was a young man and every kid in the world had a transistor radio plastered to their ear, why? For free music off the radio. Later they realized AM fidelity was crap and they evolved to plastic stereo portable record players and eventually, full high fidelity systems and AM radio fell out of favor for music, and with it, the iPod's precursor.

Jobs, a visionary for realizing stolen music off the internet at acceptable but still lousy MP3 fidelity only needed a modern version of that radio to play it?

Ha. I have nothing against the Mappel iCrap iPod and iPhone other than it took away from developing cutting edge computers, which is what I need, not a 2000 era new transistor radio fad.

Or walkie-talkie telephones. Wait until Jobs takes credit for "inventing" the Dick Tracy wrist iVideophone.

Right now, he has been on target, but what happens when he comes up with the first product that bombs? What is that going to do to the company as far sales? How will that effect their image as an innovative company?

Just food for thought.

Apple already has completely lost its image as a cutting edge computer company. And those video and audio/video pros who've needed such capability going on three years now.

All of Jobs tapdancing around avoiding Blu-ray has decimated it.

In my case, for good. I'm never buying Apple again.

:apple:

Well, i agree on everything you say.
It is very true that a company that gets bigger and bigger will face more problems and will be felt differently by its customers.
Yes apple image of being the little guy is something that if apple continues to grow will change dramatically.
I am for sure scared about the growth of apple, because i do not want apple to become target of viruses or start to behave like other companies and lose what makes apple so great.
I definitely hope apple continue doing great, but at the same time i dont want them to become a huge company.
As for now with 40 bil in cash apple definitely can risk to have a "bust" or to make a wrong choice, and still not going on the verge of bankruptcy.

Steve's vision and way to approach the business has been remarkable, the ipod and itunes store is what really saved apple and gave them the power and money to expand and to create new amazing gadgets (yes i sincerely think the iphone is amazing ) So everyone that loves apple products should thank the Icr@p for this.
I do hope apple will never lose focus on what they are. But for now i feel pretty secure about it, i heard the speech of Tim Cook saying that apple could have bought bigger companies but never did because apple does not want to just get bigger apple just want to get better and be innovative to deliver the best product not to be the best seller. I sincerely think this is a mentality created by Jobs and this winning mentality will never leave until Steve is there.
What scares me is the moment when steve will really leave apple (he has been very sick, and nobody knows if he recovered 100% from it...cross finger). Will apple be strong enough without a powerful figure such as jobs to continue to be apple?
I sincerely doubt it.... time will tell
now let's hope apple will delivery soon some great macbook pros, which i desperately need since my old mbp has been stolen in january... aarghhhhh!

Exactly what it's been since the day Jobs came back; LCD. Lowest Common Denominator. The quick cheap buck,

Not true. If they wanted the quick cheap buck they would have Apple Clones, would allow everyone to use itunes for whatever (no more trying to sue Palm) would have everything priced under $1000 etc.

More of my money NOT going to Apple. For an iPod, an iPhone, an iPad or any other iPOS, or a ludicrous 2005 technology Mac Pro.

:apple:

Then why are you posting on an Apple site. So you believe you can diss Apple and convince everyone here how stupid they are and get them to go back to Windows etc.

Because you can't. So don't bother.

Now then if you will excuse me, I have to go check on the HD (that's 1080, not some pseudoHD 720) movie that Final Cut Pro is rendering on my "crappy" Mac Pro so I can then use "crappy" Toast to burn it with my "crappy" external burner and send off to this "crappy" professional film festival.

Apple and Jobs have had the time to hire some very talented people. Look at Jonathan Ive! They'll be able to innovate just as well and create more and more amazing products.

Steve's BEST quality is as a salesman. He is phenomenal. He can sell anything. To quote Maury Ballstein "[Steve Jobs] is so hot right now he could take a crap, wrap it in tinfoil, put a couple fish hooks on it and sell it to Queen Elizabeth as earrings." If you watch any documentaries about the beginnings of Apple, they attribute a lot of the success to this quality as well. They really need someone else who can pitch things as well as he can to continue after he leaves.

Really? Why would you buy a $800 portable BD player that only has an SVGA screen? That's 800x600. That won't even show a widescreen DVD in full detail, widescreen standard definition is 853x480, so you have to crop or shrink it to fit.

More of my money NOT going to Apple. For an iPod, an iPhone, an iPad or any other iPOS, or a ludicrous 2005 technology Mac Pro.

What? You are out of date yourself. Mac Pro uses Nehelem-based Xeons.

Perhaps he has some BD discs that he wants to watch?

Why should one have to leave the BDs at home? Or, have to buy additional
copies of the movies in other formats?

Personally, I'd wait until a player with a better screen came along. I have enough DVDs to hold me over, my backlog isn't funny anymore. I have a few BDs, but I usually rent them from Netflix. If I plan to be on the go, I get the DVD version from Netflix.

Much luck to you and Apple and enjoy your "crappy" 310th place result.

Oh, wowie. Not being able to play Blu-ray discs IS the 2005 technology capability I was referring to, which it is. I don't give a flying @#&* what processor they throw into the thing and charge quadruple for.

The reason Apple will not be able to sustain the current level of growth is due to the fact that each year, they have to introduce a new product to get higher and higher earnings. The problem comes when their products start to take sales from other Apple products. Like someone who has an iphone will never buy an iTouch. And someone like me who has a Macbook Air will never buy an iPad.
Just the fact that the best they could come up with was a giant ipod shows that they're running out of creativity.

just out of curiosity, if the iPad came out in 2006, and the iPhone in 2007 - would you think that Apple was out of creativity?

the problem with saying "it's just a big iPod Touch" is that you're really not backing it up with anything other then it's physical similarities. the iPad is more about form factor and convenience then computing.

interesting. im not arguing with you by any means, but the features of the ipad will basically mirror that of the ipod touch (apart from iLife etc).

i only hope that apple will release some REAL features for the ipad - e.g. control your mac, create a movie on the fly (press and drag etc) for simple movies, and lots of other things.

dont get me wrong though! i will be purchasing the ipad for writing uni note (the 10hr battery life is more attractive then my 2hr mbp battery life lol).

youve nailed it on the head there though, its the form factor and convenience for sure! sure, it wont fit in my pocket, but i always have a backpack with me anyways - no drama!

So... You're saying that it's bad to say it's like an iPod touch only because of it's physical similarities, while in the next sentence you say that the major difference is it's physical differences, like the form factor being bigger...

If the iPad came out in 2006 I would have wanted one. Then when netbooks and iPhones came out in 2007 I would have stopped buying iPads and bought the iPhone and a netbook. Same that I'm doing now.

As for creativity... I'd have thought that it was really innovative to create the iPad because there was nothing like it! Then when they make the iTouch and iPhone I'd be shocked that they could replicate the tech into a much smaller device and add features like a phone.

The fact is that they DIDN'T go in this direction. They took a device that has more features than the iPad (iPhone) and then made it bigger and took some of the features away (Camera, phone...). If you think that's innovative great. I haven't seen very many Apple Mac updates that were much more innovative either.

Uh... because I can't play them on my Mac. Duh.

Being able to play it is one part of the puzzle, if it can't display any of the image benefits of Blu-Ray, you might has well have bought the DVD for the trip and saved $700+ for by not buying that player.

Then just buy a Sony (or Toshiba, etc) laptop and use that instead of bringing a Mac or buying that turkey. For what it's worth, I've considered buying a Blu-Ray laptop, that Panasonic thing is just a waste of money in comparison.
