yeah! specially since their goal is not to sell as much as possible, or to beat the iTunes Store to it...

remember... it all just business. It's never personal...

I mean to say that they release it early as in places aren't supposed to sell CD/DVDs early and wait for a specific date. that is all.

I bought in iBooks (on my iPad). I have sync enabled on my iPhone - but the book isnt' showing up as something I've purchased. Any help is greatly appreciated

It has a index and it has a table of contents, when in the book reading, click the menu button on your kindle, then choose "Go To" in the following menu that comes up you should see "Table of Contents".

I was playing Batman Arkham City (So addicted to that game right now) and my phone went off showing I had a new email, it was my Amazon receipt for the biography. Checked my kindle there it was, I promptly saved my game and started reading.

My advice to anyone reading the book, I know most never read introductions, this is one you will want to read.

Even moderately anticipated titles, much less highly-anticipated like this come with Strict-On-Sale dates from the publisher. As a major retailer, you get a fine for each copy you sell before midnight of the SOS date. People lose their jobs over breaking SOS dates, and there are other penalties in their contracts as well. With this being a digital release, it is unthinkable that Amazon could do this by accident. Someone somewhere would have had to decide it was worth the fines and repercussions. Guaranteed they lost substantial money on every copy they distributed early. Only they'll know if the attention they'll rcv as a result will have made it worth doing.

Clever... if not a little tasteless in this case...

Indeed - and normally would have - except I have way too much iTunes credit and thought I might as well use some of it on the book instead of out of pocket..

Well, that's a good enough reason to buy for iBooks! I always prefer getting my books from Amazon myself - can run them on more devices.

Nevermind - FINALLY appeared.. I guess the servers/iCloud is sticky today

Read It...

Got my copy here:

Rather fitting that Amazon delivered it to me faster than Apple could. An indicator of the future as Apple begins to fall behind.

Finished the book before calling it a day. Was an interesting, if not totally surprising read.

Another reminder of the Kindles superior experience when reading eBooks.

I wish my iPad 2 could do as well.

I got mine from iBookstore early

I got an e-mail last night saying the book was ready to download at 8:07 p.m. PST yesterday. I downloaded it and was reading last night... so it wasn't just Kindle, unless it was a reaction to Kindle releasing early.

I can. E-ink display (Kindle, etc.)

How you people can read an entire book on a back-lit screen without burning your retinas out, I'll never know ;)

Also, Kindle has an app for all Apple platforms, including OS X, so you can read your books on your Mac desktop, Mac laptop, iPad tablet, and iPhone, but iBooks does not. iBooks is only for the iPad and iPhone.

Probably by using their brain. You know, as opposed to marketing copy in place of brain.

Official Steve Jobs Biography FREE eBook Download

Just bought the book on iBooks and then a friend informed me that there's a free PDF eBook of Steve Jobs Biography available - http://goo.gl/WLMYl. The quality is not as good but it's the actual full version!

I've finished chapter 1, 2 and will read some more tonight.

This is what I see:

Same thing on the Kindle.

I have confirmed with Amazon that the edition uploaded does not allow you to access the TOC through the menu.

It's mind-boggling how much petty, childish banter went on in this thread. People bashing Amazon for the early release, yet if Apple had it early they would have giggled with glee. Whining about interfaces and faux ease of use issue, smugly touting e-ink over standard displays, etc. All over the release of a book. The great irony here is that Steve touted the simplicity of design, partly as a means of focusing on the content, not the technology. Howe about everyone just appreciate the book for what it is and stop with the 2nd grade banter about who's favorite superhero would win in a fight?
