I'm sure had Steve lived, Tim would have always affectionately referred to him as 'The Boss'. He was a co-founder of the company after all. Most people will always think of Steve as the boss of Apple.
I think you're all reading into it a little much with the whole 'well he was still on the board and Tim works for the board' thing.

I'm sure he did...! But the stories about Steve Jobs planned the next 4 years for apple in my opinion is a ploy... It's to keep stocks from dropping and allow confidence in the current employees, who are smart as hell as well...! But that story being leaked seems like garbage. Either way, whatever, apple is a great company...!

You have got to love what you do if you are ready take it to such extremes. Can't wait for his biography to be released.

This proofs he was fully conscious until the very end. It must have been horrible to die of asphyxia.

It 'proofs' nothing of the sort

However it does prove and confirm that Steve Jobs was the highly dedicated individual that many of us came to admire.

RTP.

Amazing

When most people would be drugged to their eyeballs to kill the pain, he was still dedicated to ensuring his baby was on the right course to survive after he was gone. That's dedication, strength, vision, and a buttload of stubborn.

Simply amazing.

I would hope that any major company would have a pretty good idea of what they are doing at least 4 or 5 years in advance. It seems entirely within Steve's character to do so as well, but probably in greater detail than usual given the circumstances (and Steve's personality in general).

Personally, I'd be more worried about my bucket list. Maybe he'd already gotten all that checked off....

Perhaps Steve had one more idea to share with Tim Cook about iPhone 5, but as others have said, it was probably a call to say, I won't last too much longer and I'd like to see you one more time. At that moment, Steve was on borrowed time (time given to him by the twenty-something organ donor) and it was quickly evaporating.

Still missing Steve. Still can't believe he's gone for good.

Perhaps going from DEAD-ASS LAST, A MICHAEL DELL QUIP and ABOUT TO SHUTTER YOUR DOORS to the BIGGEST COMPANY IN THE WORLD BY MARKET CAP was what Steve really cared about. He had his own jet. I'm sure he saw all the places in the world that really mattered to him with the people that mattered most.

Pretty sad to be working instead of spending time with your family.

I'm sorry to see you get downvoted for this. Fact is - I think you are right. I admire Steve's work ethic - but he clearly knew he was dying soon and there's a point when family comes first. Again - he was clearly devoted to Apple - but it's a little sad to also read that the impetus for his biography was so that his kids could get to know him and who he was.

EXTREMELY sad to spend time judging what other people do with their lives in their last hours, at home, with family. a group of us in the computer lab at school did quick survey of comments from this poster. a pretty cynical attitude is the nicest summary we came up with. (limited survey team of four so not time or desire to dig further into this (?) mind)

what's hard to figure out is why a working (even non-working) adult would take time to join a site, post over 35 times, each negative about the product the site is about. one guy said it would be like going to the Packers website 37 TIMES to let them know how weak they are (and how the Carolina Panthers are armed to take over.) THAT is pretty sad.

This speculation and rumor mongering on Steve’s “last product” is as stupid as it is ghoulish.

Everybody has a boss.

Not him.

I thought Cook was the boss already at that time. Didn't Steve Jobs already step down from being CEO by then?

Wow.

Steve founded Apple. Steve made Apple into the most valuable company in the world. Steve's dying. Why would Tim not take a call from Steve when Steve is on his deathbed?

Forget about Apple products. What actually amazes me most was Steves work ethic.

^ his work ethos is amazing. He did not let anything get in its way, wether it be cancer, or being kicked out of his own company.

They're allowed to have wives, too. Just like Tim's allowed to have a husband... he's gay, after all.

A few caveats:

I don't believe the female board member is gay (I was too lazy to look up her name so I just asked Siri to search for "Apple female board member" and got back Andrea Jung...I love Siri).

Even if she is, in this stupid country, it's not legal in most places for her to be married, and even if her state allows it, it's not recognized by the federal government. I mean, I love America, but sometimes we're just ass-backward.

And finally, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe Tim Cook has come out as gay. Yes, there are rumors, but nothing official. If he is, great. If not, that's also great. But I just don't think he's confirmed either way.

I always assumed Steve's last words would be somehow Apple related.

We obviously don't know what they were, but I keep believing it. I don't think he ever stopped thinking about Apple.
