Tim Cook's words:

http://arstechnica.com/apple/news/2...ately-express-our-sadness-at-steves-death.ars

Team,

I have some very sad news to share with all of you. Steve passed away earlier today.

Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.

We are planning a celebration of Steve’s extraordinary life for Apple employees that will take place soon. If you would like to share your thoughts, memories and condolences in the interim, you can simply email rememberingsteve@apple.com.

No words can adequately express our sadness at Steve’s death or our gratitude for the opportunity to work with him. We will honor his memory by dedicating ourselves to continuing the work he loved so much.

Tim

Wow, my first reaction was this was BS. I'm just like everyone else, speechless. You helped shape the modern tech world Steve, you will always be remembered.

R.I.P.

So it goes.

I just feel so bad.

Had so many people bitching about the new iPhone 4S yesterday (including myself) and little did we all know Steve was living out his last days.

Puts things into perspective.

R.I.P. Steve...you made the world a better place.

Our 3 year old daughter upon learning that Steve had passed, said:

"Dear Heavenly Father, send him back."

I feel the same way. Very sad day.

Rest in Peace...

My prayers are with your family. You've made my computing life so much better. Thanks for standing up for all the users of technology.

Donr you feel bad about bitching about just the iPhone 4s now ...

Thank you Steve. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. Appropriately enough, Sent from my iPhone. :)

I must say I give Apple a lot of respect for how they handled it. Making the email account for people to email about him, and taking everything off the front page besides a picture of Steve. Classy move.

Hopefully this puts things into perspective for everyone who enjoys Apples products.

I'll miss him.... Tim cook already looked idiot yesterday... Who knows what he could have done in the next 5-10 years.

Wow...such a horrible day for the tech world. A true visionary who will surely never be forgotten for his creative genius, and tremendous inventions that literally helped shape the modern world. He will be missed, not only by his family; for whom I am praying for, but also everyone else who has or ever will come in contact with computing technology.:apple::apple::apple::apple:
