S. Jobs injected his DNA into Apple. They are setting up the Apple university, they are building the new billion dollar Apple campus. Apple is the largest tech company on the planet and they have close to $100 billion in cash. They could scew up for the next 20 years and still be around. However, most likely they are entering a new phase in the lifetime of a corporation.

And i have commented on why that, while of course good, may not be enough to keep progressing. As for being around, i never think i stated otherwise. Being relevant, and being around is two different stories though.

...Not that i doubt that Apple will be relevant for the foreseeable future either, though. Just trying to add some perspective here.

Why? You don't think they have a roadmap for new products at least 4 years out? Th iPad and iphone were both in development more than 4 years when they launched. Apple's major plans are rarely impacted by the rest of the industry. Over the past 5 years in computers/mobile Apple has driven nearly all the change.

I believe Apple's only design close to 8 years old is the classic, there is some debat if they even manufacturer it still.

I call bullcrap. Apple is in every way dependent on the developments in its environment. Others enabled the success of Apple; consequently, "even the plans of Apple" are in every way impacted by the rest of the industry.

While there may be a general blueprint, that doesn’t mean it will come to fruition or be done the way Steve Jobs would have done it.

No matter how good the ideas are, unless you have someone with the vision of critical eye of Steve Jobs, the odds of products continuing to such home runs are slim.

There are many good guys on board at apple... but nobody will ever be as good as Jobs when it comes to final say so. So while I hope for the best, I expect the worst. His loss can only effect this company in a bad way... he was that good.

Does this mean we will have to wait for five years until Apple finally makes an XMac?

Why would they do that? "Demand" by tech forum members is hardly representative of what the general population wants. Desktop sales have been decreasing for years. Not going to happen.

My hope is that Apple can carry the same magic Disney has kept without its leader at the helm.

One thing not many is aware of is Apple started on Apple Silicon in 2007/2008, when Steve Jobs was still there, still before they released the first iPhone. It took Apple about 12 years to finally say goodbye to overheating underperforming Intel processors. The M1 Mac mini, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro were released in November 2020.
