But if they're spending the little money they have on stuff like that, you've got to wonder about their priorities. There's almost no reason to help them.
being a long time board member of a non profit, that worked with the homeless a lot, i still think it is worthwhile helping the homeless
many homeless may not exhibit the same judgment or may have a profound mental illness, or suffering lifetime effects of having served in vietnam, but the absolute mark of a society is how we treat the homeless, abused children, orphans, animals, or any other category/group that is not in the leading ecomonic income in their culture
most here on this forum are probably middle class or upper middle class, and the idea of how the homeless survive may seem strange
there is always volunteer work at shelters for people who are homeless or addicted to drugs/alcohol...red cross, united way, and local shelters are a good start
anyway, it's a real eye opener
