Has anyone that bought the 3GS had their upgrade status moved up to early June? There were some reports of some that were moved to late June.

The Touch is thinner because it doesn't have any PHONE hardware in it, which takes considerable room.

Tony

If the iPhone is thicker because of the phone hardware, why did you just say the iPhone was thicker because of the second slot?

The iPhone would have to be THICKER to fit a second slot, since there is no room otherwise.

Tony

Yeah, apparently the people who spend over $100 PER LINE had their upgrade status moved up. I guess the people who spend $250 a month on a four line (3 iPhones) family plan, just aren't good enough for AT&T.

Yeah, that's me. And on a corporate employee rate..... but over $200 per mo.

The iPhone 3GS is CURRENTLY thicker than the Touch because it has phone circuitry inside, and the second flash slot on the Touch takes up less room than the phone circuitry does in the iPhone, so the latter is thicker, even with one flash slot. In order for the 4G phone to have a second flash slot, it has to be EVEN THICKER than the CURRENT iPhone 3GS.

I suppose you're right, if the new iPhone's circuitry is the same size and design as the 3GS's.

I wouldn't be disappointed even if nothing *new* was announced. The only thing I want is a higher resolution screen on iPhone and I think that is almost confirmed.

First person on macrumors that actually wants the same thing as me in the new iPhone! The rest is just icing.

I like this

Steve Jobs makes any keynote an event. I really mean it from a PC user, I have enjoyed most of his keynotes since 2002.

LOL, obviously you haven't enjoyed them enough, you're still a PC user. :D. WWDC has traditionally been about developing for the Macintosh. It wasn't until the iPhone came out 3 of years ago that WWDC was about developing for it as well as the Mac.

Remember that the 4G also has a 16% bigger BATTERY than the 3GS, which takes even more room.

Tony

I would imagine that taking the curve out of the back panel would account for at least 16% more internal usable space.

Sorry, the ... Macintosh?

Oh right, THAT.

Sorry for the poor attempt at sarcasm, it's just that the keynote where the first iPhone was unveiled was the last one that, to me, felt like an Apple keynote.

I'm sick of the focus on iPhone, and soon iPad. I know it's a massive market and it makes Apple billions, but come on ... don't forget the Mac. As pointless as some may think, I like hearing Mac sales during keynotes and seeing demos of new Mac features/software. It's just a case of every keynote now being about a mobile device, and Job's bold claim that Apple is now a mobile company really hit a nerve with a lot of people.

Sure, the iPhone Generation love it ... but I got into Apple because of the Mac. I love my iPhone, but my Mac is my Mac.

I'm with you 1000% on that. I'm sick of the iPhone news everyday and Apple's apparent focus towards it with little regard for the Mac which is what they are legendary for and what still brings them the most revenue. I would love for WWDC to be 80% about the Mac and 10% on news and 10% of the iPhone/iPad. I know I'm dreaming especially since the iPad will definitely own a large chunk of the 90 minute show.

Hopefully he brings us a new Apple TV.

I've been dying for an actual apple TELEVISION.

They have different departments/divions that focus on different things... Even if the "iPhone department" worked all day everyday it wouldn't take away from any Mac developement/ research.

Got the 3GS on the day it launched and my date was originally set to November 20th. It has since been moved up to may 20th..yep..three days ago! Everyone else getting a bump is getting June..for some reason I got may...I'm fully eligible right now. Now I just have to wait for this damn thing to come out....time passes soo sloooww..

I actually pay $95 or so a month..
Never $100 or over though...but i haven't had any late payments..I think that affects things too.

ACTUALLY..I just thought about

"In response to the rumor, AT&T’s CEO Ralph da la Vega said during an investor conference that his company was not fazed by the possibility of a Verizon iPhone. He explained that family plans and corporate plans constitute a large part of AT&T’s customer base, and it’s difficult to migrate multiple devices to a different carrier."

I imagine that may be an obvious reason for those people not getting their eligibility bumped up...since AT&T is more worried about single person plan owners (like myself) leaving for another provider.

Deosn't matter how many say it is the most predictable of news — I know I would have been quite distraught if it was NOT by Steve Jobs. So I am excited by the 'predictable' news and am so looking forward to it.

Game on, Google!

The problem is that most people nowadays attending the WWDC aren't developers anymore and are just there for the "event". At least that's my experience from the last year compared to the years before.

Some? Yes. Most? No.

brand name soda! WOW! :D

how about an open bar? that would be awesome.

Hey, don't forget the Odwalla juice - that stuff is expensive.

But, no, it's not 24/7 - they lock the cabinets for most of the day (excluding lunch) and you have to go out to the lobbies between sessions to get the goodies.

If WWDC didn't cost that much I might have been able to get tickets this time around. It does seem kind of funny that the cost for WWDC is as much as an iMac. Oh, and that doesn't include the plane ticket or hotel costs to stay out there for a week.

Just a guess, but you've never attended a professional conference before, have you? $1599 for a 5 day conference is a good price.

True, as someone else stated you even get name brand soda's amongst other refreshments.
