Proof

Proof that being rich and having good taste does not go hand in hand...Ugly Mother$@%ker!!!

Impressive. Although, if I were Steve, I would have had Jonny Ive work closely on this project.

Anyway, where can I get a ticket to board this boat ran by iMacs?

Looks like they're using the next generation iMacs that have no pedestal, keyboard, or mouse! Touchscreen?

that's a mother ship!
dunno about 7 iMacs tho, 5 would have been suffice in semi-circular position imho.

How do you know how many screens are needed to control a large yacht? Do you have any experience with sailing yachts?

Maybe 7 screens are needed to display all the required information.

Iboat 2

I'll wait a year for The New iBoat, aka iBoat 2. Smaller, sleeker, lighter. The best iBoat ever built.

Btw, I live about 10 miles from Aalsmeer. Maybe I'll drive over for a look.

Not sure what to think. Some I like some I hate. Interestingly, what is that pole at the stern upper deck? Pretty sure Steve would have insisted that've removed.

What people fail to realize is how vulnerable these yachts are to pirates. There are many deterrent systems on board, and one of the most important (though often overlooked by the lay public but certainly not the designers), is to create an aesthetic as unpleasing as possible. There are of course other deterrents and defenses in place, but many pirates wouldn't even bother boarding such a boring and yet architecturally confounding boat. They'd figure nothing of interest could lie inside.

What Steve Jobs and Phillippe Starck created could receive no higher praise than the attacks the design is receiving. I doubt one person on this board has yet thought about burgling that yacht (well maybe now that I've let the cat out of the bag). But your average pirate won't see past his own detest of the design, either. He'll just move on to a more attractive vessel.

Looks like a floating Apple Store.

The man loved, breathed and lived Apple - course it does :)

And people who whine about the money he spend for that - you'd do the same if you had the money with probably a constant supply of booze and prostitutes.

"'Twas on the good ship Venus..............."

(Old English Rugby song, the rest of it being unsuitable for a public site......)

Actually, it's not an onld English rugby song.... it's a song by the Sex Pistols 'Friggin' In The Riggin' :)

The reality of this yacht is that it doesn't matter if you think it is ugly or beautiful. Steve designed this for him and his family, not for sale to the public. What reasons he has for the particular aspects of the design we may never know, but I can assure that when building this, he did not care whether or not people thought it was ugly. What mattered to him was that it was exactly how he wanted it, as it should when spending the kind of money he probably spent. One other thing that is for sure compared to many of the other rich person yachts, is that had he lived to use this, when people saw it on the water, they would have instantly known this was the yacht that belonged to Steve Jobs.

Here is a nice picture from the first topic about this on the forum.

Pelorus >>> Venus. This thing realy looks like a floating Apple Store.

That's not such a bad idea, a mobile Apple store on the water.

You obviously don't know of the pirates who run in the South-East asian waters. Those pirates will board a very old wreck crammed full of people trying to escape their lands just for the few little valuables they have and even the shirts of the poor victims backs. If the Jobs boat went into those waters I'm sure every pirate in the area would get their guns and think about robbing it.

What a truly horrible looking boat.

Whether it's designed that way to deter pirates or not makes no difference as its too awful for even the owners to contemplate boarding it.

Looks like a obselete 1950s soviet missile silo. Toss up which one will ultimately get more use.

What did happen is that under Steve's management, he made Apple's shareholder several 100's of Billion wealthier, more than Gates and Buffett combined worth. So if you want to know what happened to all the wealth that Steve made, look at any Apple shareholder (or even your parents if their retirement funds hold AAPL stock.)

Ask all those Apple shareholders who you know what they are doing for the betterment of the world with their share of several 100's of Billions in increased wealth of which Steve managed the creation (again, more than Gates and Buffett combined).

That's what Steve gave back.

Not true. Did Apple pay a dividend to the shareholders? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think they did. Yes, the stock price went up, meaning stock owners could make money on selling the stock, but that constitues a wealth transfer outside of Apple. Apple's money or profits are not involved in this at all. You could achieve the same effect as a company that has ZERO profits, if you convince enough people to buy your stock at inflated prices. The "increased wealth" you speak of is still sitting in Apple's bank accounts. Making profit by selling Apple stock means you are only transferring existing wealth, not "creating" or "contributing" anything to the economy. A contribution would happen either by paying out the dividend (which I guess they do now, albeit in very small amounts) or by bringing the 120 billion into the USA and paying tax on it.
