They couldn't find a better way to plug all those macs in? Check out the cord coming from the cabinet......

I don't understand why it seems like 85% of those who commented hate the design.

it's basically an aluminum and glass block with the minimal lines necessary to make it float and enable forward motion. (Almost) no ornamentation. As little design as possible.

What else did you thing Jobs would ask for, given the current state of Apple design? Is it that hard to believe that Jobs might actually like the look of Apple Stores and iMacs so much that his yacht would channel them?

I'm really just amazed how confident everyone is that Steve Jobs had terrible taste in yacht design.

Pelorus >>> Venus. This thing realy looks like a floating Apple Store.

You know, they have thise voating restronts in Hong Kong ...... Went on thise once.... This vesel could very well be a floating Apple Store. I'm just wondering if Steve thought of that, as well as being a yacht.

What people fail to realize is how vulnerable these yachts are to pirates. There are many deterrent systems on board, and one of the most important (though often overlooked by the lay public but certainly not the designers), is to create an aesthetic as unpleasing as possible.

I think your post might be a bit tongue in cheek but I would have thought the only aesthetic pirates 'respect' is truly form follows function - eg. painted battleship grey, can do 30 knots, and has a bunch of bored Royal Marines* on board. (* Feel free to insert a military of your choice!)

These guys attack container ships and oil tankers. If any of those have come past you while at sea they look pretty confusing in terms of getting aboard. They resemble a floating block of flats. If they can manage those this thing won't present any problems at all.

Mind you, I suspect looking at the picture of the bridge - with all those fracture inducing smooth slippery edges and wide open space it's not going to be steaming round into the Indian Ocean any time soon.

So Jobs shows as little taste as most rich people.
I mean, he even drove a silver Mercedes - is there a more average luxury car without a soul than a silver Mercedes?
He could have afforded the nicest designs, but that is just lack of taste.
Thank god Ive is with Apple. Without him, Jobs sure would have ruined Apple even more than it already was ruined.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I quite like the design of the Jobs yacht. it's different. Minimalistic. And looks modern. It looks like to me it was designed with the Apple principle of form = function.

You obviously haven't done your history lessons on this. Ive was designing a number of variations for each device, Steve was the one deciding which one will come out. Even more, he had personally modified a lot of previous Mac models' designs according to his taste, like iMac etc. and he is credited exclusively for Apple's come back, exactly because of his taste and his ability to recognize the ugliness. If not anything else, he was known for it.

Judging his entire talent by a boat that is actually constructed by someone else, and shown after his death is just ignorant.

That's a nice looking yacht.
I'm not sure I'm looking at the same yacht, that thing is horrible. Yachts are such a flagrant waste of money by people with too much of it in the first place, but when it's hideous as well as a waste then I really start to take exception.

This was probably one of the few insanely costly things that Jobs wanted. And not to spoil the fun, I want to watch Johnny Ive's serious monologue about the yacht. Innovative? Thinner?

Don't know if it's nice looking or horrible looking. But I do know that it's looking like a genius bar counter. I'm not sure I'd want that in front of my eyes once I get some leisure time off work. :apple:

I don't think so, the 27 in models are not coming out until December.

Yea but its Steve Jobs yacht. Of course he'll have the latest iMac's even before they come out. The question I was asking was, where are the mouse and keyboards? I guess they are touch screen iMac's?

Tell me do you have proof that Steve Jobs didn't give to charity?

Also Gates probably isn't that good of a man as you claim.

What an immense waste of money...

He worked hard for his money, and he was rewarded for such, he (and his family) has every right to spend the money they worked so hard to earn on anything they choose too.

I think the yacht is over the top extravagant but its their money and they're free to spend it

Did the workers also get t-shirts saying "I built this boat and all I got was an iPod shuffle"

Could have at least given them a new iPod touch!!
