Because White is not Black.
I don't have a problem with fingerprints being very visible on my black one; I can't believe it's a gender thing; if being different for the sake of being different is the goal, put a sparkly case on it ('cause thousands of others will have a white one too!).
To me it looks like all those 1970's sci-fi movies where they assumed everything in the future is white (except the screens)
You know that guy wasn't inuslting the woz in any way. He just said the truth. But i have to agree wozniak deserves a little more respect than that. By the way when is the white powerbook g5 comming out?

They where bot equally important. There would have been no beginning of Apple without one of these two main pieces. However, over time Woz was nowhere on what Apple made, especially from Jobs come back to Apple, what did Woz have done from there to now? Who led Apple back on track with an uninterrupted series of successful products?
That's why Jobs gets the credits.
PS:
Woz without Jobs would have been some random IBM employee.
Jobs without Woz would have been some random visionar hippy.

Kind of late in the iPhone 4 cycle. By the time this is released you might as well wait for the next generation iPhone.
Not sure if anyone really cares at this point. Hopefully we will be hearing about the iPhone 5 in a few months.
I really wish Apple would start offering some variety in the iPhone in regards to color and even design. Everyone having the same bland phone is getting boring.

Computers are tools agree, but not completly.

If by tools you mean something to get work done I disagree.
Most people aren't programmers or designers they just use laptops for other stuff so yes they have to be social/fashion.
After this argument I don't even comment on the Phones part which you mean Smartphones I think?
I used a myriad of appliances and usually some features are left unused so I prefer to have less but better features!
It seems Apple has won. Remember back in the day when phones were used for, you know, making phone calls? Don't people consider communication a tool anymore?
If I can sell my unlocked iPhone 4 32gb for about $600 then I will buy one out right and get the new iPhone this summer. I still want the white so "F" it...

What's worse, fashion rules dictate you can only take calls on the white iPhone between Easter and Labor Day.
My point is that it's much more than a tool...
Phones aren't just for calls anymore.
Besides I doubt most people sees the phone as tool it's more like the clothes they wear, why do you think there are so many different colors shapes and sizes?

wow the white one is so much prettier! but i might as well hope for the iphone 5 coming out in white because i'm not buying another iphone so soon just for the color.

This whole white iPhone thing is hype taken to the nth degree. It is nauseating.
Other recent things that made me hurl were:
1) The term "magical" when describing the iPad
2) The "day you'll never forget" hype with release of Beatles on iTunes.

Because the white iPhone is RETRO ... "it reminds me of the first iPod I had way back in the day when I was a kid."
JK, sort of. Seriously though, White has been Apple's go-to color since the iPod was first released. No one else was using white. Today, no one is making white phones. The white iPhone will sell massively.

If you want white but don't wanna use your upgrade just sell your current phone on craigslist and then buy the white one outright. That's what I'll be doing
Your point is very valid (I didn't do any channel checks when I wrote that no one was making white phones today), however none of those phones "look" white - at least not in that iconic way that an Apple product does when it's released in a white version. Maybe it has something to do with Apple industrial design + white color. IDK.
I must admit I have had a crush on that white phone since the beginning. Man that thing is pimp! Bring it!
My point is white is the new black. Not just in phones, everywhere you look it's white LED TV's, white phones, white laptops, white kitchen units, oh and white is currently the most popular colour for new cars in the UK.

I think it will be iPhone 1 -> iPhone 3G
Some minimal redesign, Verizon iPhone fixed antenna, and some performance upgrades (even if i think it doesn't really need them) let's wait for iOS5...
