I’m considering buying the Series 3 Watch as I am interested in the LTE support, really think this feature would be useful and quite handy.
I currently have a gold aluminum S2. I had a silver S0 before this. I really have wound up not loving the gold all that much. It doesn’t pair with a lot of bands too well imo.
So this time around I’m really considering the SS model because of the sapphire screen, and also the really nice look. However I understand that this model is a bit heavier on the wrist; not sure if this would be a pro or con for me. Also, I like both the regular and Space Black SS models. I think the regular would pair better with my existing band collection, but that space black just has an awesome look...
And I could always just save some money and get the aluminum model again, with that new Sport Loop which looks interesting.
Anyway, which would you all recommend coming from a gold S2? Aluminum again, SS, or SB SS?

I have a gen1 SS black one. Honestly after owning that I would never own the aluminum Watch. It looks so cheap

THIS!!!!! people argue with me all day saying the aluminum doesn't look cheap but when you put it next to SS it does look cheap.

I plan on buying the s2 ss since I refuse to give AT&T anymore of my cash then I have to

Im selling my Series 2 SS if you're in new york and interested in buying, i'll be upgrading to the SS Series 3 more than likely next week so i need to sell my Series 2, it comes with a Milanese loop band.

I Agree. I originally purchased the sport model when I first launched, then I sold it after a few months, as I did not like how light weight it was and I did not care for the aluminum. I also thought the display scratched relatively easy with Ion-X Glass. Once I purchased the stainless model, the Sapphire display and weight of the stainless With the shine was really Nice.

It's worth nothing that all the series 3 + LTE (S3) models come with 16 GB memory. The WiFi/GPS S3 only has 8 GB memory just like the S0 S1 and S2 models.

I have a first gen aluminum black model. It's nice enough, but finding bands that coordinate well with it is difficult. Most of Apple's nylon bands have a silver clasp, which looks weird with a black watch. The black finish on my watch also doesn't go too well with my office attire (suit/sport coat, slacks, tie). I don't regret buying it, since the purpose was really to try the watch out to see how I would use it. But, with that experiment now complete, it's time to move on.

IMHO, the silver stainless steel model looks very upscale to me, goes better with a wider array of bands, and looks better with my clothes. That's what I intend to purchase. For myself, I would not buy another black watch.

I had the SS Series 0, and have a SS Series 2. IMO it goes with every band, looks premium, has the sapphire crystal, and scratches can be buffed out with a cape cod cloth. In fact I just spent 15 minutes doing exactly that with mine, and it looks like new. I was keen on the ceramic grey this year, but it still suffers from any "dressy" strap not looking good with it.

Only thing I’m concerned about with the sapphire screen is the shatter-factor. Is that a big deal? I have dropped my aluminum on accident a couple times, with fortunately no screen damage mostly thanks to the screen protectors I use, and while of course I hope not to do that with the SS if I was to buy it, I’m aware that it could happen by accident and then I would be stuck with a broken screen...

I have a Launch Day S0 in SS and not even a scratch.

Sapphire is a lot harder to scratch or shatter than many think. All my watches have Sapphire crystals and not once have I ever had one shatter. I've had a metal frame door hit the front of my S0 Apple Watch because someone opened the door into me and it didn't even chip. I've dropped my military Hamilton with sapphire crystal on the ground accidently when adjusting it and it didn't shatter either. I believe that if sapphire was used on a larger surface such as a phone then it would absolutely shatter easier than a smaller surface such as a watch face. Now that's not to say it won't happen, but it can take more than the internet trolls will lead you to believe. Swiss Watch makers have been using sapphire crystal far longer than Apple and you don't hear about Rolex, Tag, Tissot, Breitling, Omega, having customer sat issues with sapphire.

Is sapphire worth the extra $230 over the aluminum do you think? Just trying to decide before pre order time.
On the one hand I really like the premium look and feel of the stainless steel. On the other hand I’m not really the kind of person that needs a formal watch. Also, the aluminum is lighter and I feel like it’s less of a fancy watch and more of a device/tool which is why I buy the Watches, as a geek, not a watch enthusiast. Still, that SS looks so nice.....hard to choose!

Only other thing to consider is resale. If you plan to sell in a year and upgrade when Series 4 hits expect a larger drop in resale from the SS vs the Aluminum.
