Very true. If you plan on purchasing a new watch every year or cycle then you will lose more with a SS as compared to the aluminum.

That said, the number of times i smashed my watch face into a door knob, pipe, fence, cinderblock wall (accidentally) and it not even gaining a scratch is probably worth that $300 premium.

My first watch, series 0, was SS and I loved it. My series 2 was a gift and it is a space grey sport. My preorder for Series 3 I'm going back to SS. I love the link bracelet. it just looks so classy, plus literally every band goes with it.

The Only downside to the regular stainless watch model, is it scratches relatively easy, but can easily be buffed out with a Cape Cod cloth. And I like the added weight to it, which makes it actually feel like Less of Just a smart Watch.

My series 0 did have quite a bit of micro-scratches, but I used metal polish and a cloth to buff it out, so I'm use to that. I currently have a sport and its nice, but like you said the weight makes it feel more premium. I like using as few devices as possible (ironic being someone who owns everything Apple) but I like that the SS can be dressed up for a fancy restaurant, or dressed down for a workout.

Agreed. The stainless watch can easily be dressed up or down. The aluminum Watch doesn't is much harder to pair bands with it. But the stainless just looks better paired wish almost anything.

Finally upgrading my Aluminum Series O to Stainless Steel Series 3. Originally bought the Aluminum since I wasn’t sure if i’d Like wearing a watch and didn’t want to make the investment.

Wear it everyday and love the look of the SS.

I bought the S0 Space Black Stainless Steel Case with Space Black Link Bracelet, cost me $1549 Aussie dollars back in 2015. Found it very hard to sell, seems no one wants the series 0. Ended up selling it for $250. I could have bought 3 series 3 aluminium watches for what I paid for the SS one. I'll be going aluminium this time round.

Yeah like I said above the stainless watch does not keep its value at all. Case in point: one of the sell your tech for cash sites was paying $330 for a series 2 space black 42mm in perfect condition just before the series 3 unveil on September 12. The next day September 13 that same watch's value had dropped to $174.

That's a drastic difference in price point drop. But it goes to show you how quickly tech Depreciates when something else is announced or superseded by another device. That's why I usually try to sell at least two weeks before the keynote if it seems likely another product is launching.

Even weeks ago I could only get about £150 for my 42mm SS with Milanese loop. I paid £599 back in 2015. Not terrible but expected a bit more.

I had a SS Series 0, but going for the Space Grey Aluminium Case with Grey Sport Band this time round. Saving the extra to use on the iPhone X 256GB.

I have a gold aluminum and am getting the gold aluminum again. I'd rather spend the extra money on the X than on the watch. I originally bought the series 1 because I didn't know if I'd like the watch. However, I wear it every day just about and when it's not on it's because I'll be doing something where water will be involved, hence the upgrade. I like the lightness of the aluminum.

My experience: I had a series 0 Stainless steel 38MM. It was lovely, but the case got scratched very easily after a few months. The screen, even though it was Sapphire, got a small scratch on it (probably from accidental contact from my diamond anniversary band). When the series 2 came out, I bought the aluminum one, and I like it much better. The resale on the series 0 was terrible. The aluminum case still looks like new. It does have some small screen scratches, particularly around the edge on the top, but I think that is inevitable on a watch with my lifestyle. It is also lighter and more comfortable. I like the sport much better. I pair it with the Milanese band from my series 0 and it looks and feels really good.

This.
I will get an aluminum space grey without LTE and pair it with my black link bracket from the S0. The depreciation on SS is just too much to go through every 2-3 years.

I'm doing the exact same upgrade! From a stainless series 0 that I got at launch, to a Space Gray S3 with the gray sports band. And I'll also be getting the iPhone X 256GB. I wasn't expecting to upgrade the watch right now, but since the X was delayed, I figured I might as well. As upgrades go, the difference in speed should be quite impressive.

I'll be pairing a Space Gray S3 with the black Milanese loop for my S0. I'm very pleased the design of the Watch wasn't changed this year, so these options are possible.

That's exactly what I thought. I've moved on my SS for £161. So it'll cost me £260 ish, that's a price I'm happy with for the spec update.
