In a month and a half of use, I'm still amazed at how fast the 7 plus is. I upgraded from a 6 plus which was admittedly feeling sluggish after a while.

I find myself opening random web pages just to see them pop on the screen. I never thought a mobile device would be faster than a laptop, but it seems to be. Usually, the novelty of a spec bump wears off after a few days, but here it is so dramatic I'm still giddy over it even after so long.

So far, with the addition of water resistance which is really liberating for travel, I'm very happy with the upgrade.

The key is you didn't upgrade from a 6S so there was a huge jump in speed over the 2 years. Will you upgrade to the 8 next year though?

I think it is well known that the 6 Plus is not a good performer, mainly since the GPU has to work harder to process everything in higher resolution AND downsample them to 1080p. Considering how much faster the GPU on the A9 and A10, it shows.

this is my first iphone, and ive been an android user from the start. I had an S6 Edge+ before and it was a beautiful phone. But occasionally it lagged. Battery was just average.

Now as far as iPhone 7+ is concernedi love the fluidity of this phone. No lags whatsoever. Great battery as well. Though I dont like its design and it has its limitations. But overall its a great phone and a head turner too

The 6 Plus was plagued by 1 GB of Ram, which rendered the iPhone greatly. It wasn't even so much downsampling, considering the 6 Plus was sorely underpowered.

Well.... the 6 Plus was their first plus size phone, so I knew it would be an experiment. Adding that extra gig of ram for the S models made a big difference when it comes to iOS 10.

Yes that is my plan! If there is a dramatic design change as anticipated, it will be my first upgrade after only one year, but that seems rapidly becoming the new standard.

Actually, I was totally happy with the 6 plus. I wanted to upgrade to the 6S plus but I'm glad I waited as it did not seem to be enough reason to upgrade at that time. The 7 plus with the water resistance and better speakers alone was enough to push me to an upgrade.

I could have easily kept the 6 plus - In my use cases, I never really experience the refresh issues that people where talking about. But these days, a two year old device seems old already!

It's good to hear you're happy! Apple still knows their **** in the mobile division.

I want to sit through a couple of generations just to get the "wow" sensation that I got when upgrading from my 3GS to the 4S. Only two and a half years between the two, but mobile technology moved fast back then.

No doubt the iPhone 8/7S is gonna be tempting but I want to hold on to my 6S+ for at least three years!

I went from at 3G to a 4 - yes that was also a dramatic change in speed, plus the addition of the design change which was pretty awesome - the 4/4S still remains my favorite design.

From 6plus to 7plus - while they have the same iconic look, it's quite a different overall experience.

Same here...amazed at the incredible speed of the 7+.

I sold my Macbook 12" and now do everything on my iPhone....no need for anything else (atm).

Same kind of performance increase I noticed going up from my 6 plus to a 7 Plus.
Very nice indeed.

From the 6 plus to 7 plus I can imagine there is a big difference but I have a 6s Plus and when I used my sisters 7 Plus the speed difference was very minimal. I was going to upgrade but as much as I want something brand new and shiny I think I'll just wait till the 8

In my opinion you upgraded from the worst iPhone to the best iPhone. This would explain the drastic difference.

For me it was underpowered. It was the only time I bought a new iPhone and didn't think it was better than its predecessor.

Under powered compared to what?
It was your first time getting an iPhone and you didn't think it was better than its predecessor that you didn't use? :D
If I had to say about worst/underpowered iPhone model I'd probably go with the iphone 3G.
It wasn't much improvement than the iPhone 2G and the 3GS after it was a big improvement spec and speed wise.

Coming from a 6 plus this thing is a beast. Loviung the 3gb of ram and web pages not constantly reloading. Now i use my 6 plus as a media device.

Agreed. The 7 Plus is quicker and more responsive than the 6s. And I too, use my 6s Plus as a media device. The Plus has set my Air 2 aside as well, being how much I use it.

I went from a 5 to the 6 plus. The 6 plus was faster and up to spec for its day. However, by today's standards it certainly is underpowered.

I went from a 5s to a 6 plus and the 6 plus felt laggy in comparison. The 6 plus needed 2 gigs of ram. The prrformance diffrrrnce between the 6 plus and 6s plus is substantial.

Does the 7 Plus work at a higher resolution and downsample to 1920 x 1080? If so.... why? Why not just output the image at the same resolution as the screen?
