Does the 7 Plus work at a higher resolution and downsample to 1920 x 1080? If so.... why? Why not just output the image at the same resolution as the screen?
The screen size is physically smaller?

I don't know what you're trying to say.

Does the iPhone 7 Plus have a 1920 x 1080 pixel display or not?

What is the native resolution of the screen?

The 6 Plus screen is 1920x1080 but the device renders everything at a higher resolution and then downscales it to 1920x1080

It's rendered in a higher resolution (2208x1242) because the retina display works in fixed multiples. It's 3x 736x414

I was reading about that yesterday. Interesting. It was probably cheaper to use 1080p displays, instead of the native 3x scaling anyway.

Me too. The 7 Plus is just a pleasure to use compared to my old 6 Plus. It's night and day difference. The 7 Plus is pretty much as perfect as it gets internally right now. Now about those bezels...can't wait for what the future holds! But I'm thankful we have the 7 Plus now because it's an amazing phone.

The 6 plus wasn't slow with the OS it shipped with. It's the newer OSes that bog it down.
And yet there were people complaining of this and that after it was released. And there are people saying they are having better experience with iOS 10. So basically that kind of anecdotal commentary is essentially neither here nor there.

Yep. The 6 Plus has always been hampered by the fact it only has 1 GB of RAM. It was an issue even on day one as it has to very aggressively dump stuff out of memory. It only becomes truly apparent when you compare against a device with 2 GB or more though. The CPU and GPU are significantly faster as well on the 7 Plus in comparison but it is probably the increase in RAM that makes a bigger difference to perceived performance

Actually, it also has to with how it renders everything at 2208x1242 and then downscales it to 1080p which slowed it down. The 5S had better performance in some areas that relied on the GPU the most like games than the 6 Plus, but the 4.7 inch 6 still had good performance.

I don't mean this with even the slightest bit of sarcasm. The fact that you lived with a 6 plus for (in assuming) two years is amazing in and of itself. That was the worst performing phone I ever had straight out of the box until the day I replaced it with a 6s plus.

An important point is also that the iP7 now benchmarks that are equivalent to most laptops, which was really never the case it the past.

To me, it's fascinating the power of the A10
Fusion chip in comparison To laptops. excited to see what the A11 can do.

I thought it was great - while it was not fast like 7 plus (which seems crazy fast), in day-to-day use I never really felt the 6 plus was slow. It's like going from a Honda Accord to a Ferrari - you can drive the Honda all day and be pleased, but with the Ferrari you are amazed with the power - and probably arrive at your destination the same time in traffic.

I had the 6+ and 6S+, the increase in RAM made the biggest difference in day to day use. Every time you switched between apps it would have to reload them.

I'm not talking about synthetic tests where you could see lower results due to the resolution as I don't think you'd be able to tell the difference in actual use. But having to reload everything all the time that was very noticeable and a right pain.

Really. I do little extreme work anyway and the iPhone is just perfect for my usage.

Though this iPhone has decreased my usage of Macbook Pro, I still can't live without my Macbook Pro.

Does anybody know how to cast full iPhone screen on Chromecast?

Same.

The 6 Plus was the worst performing iPhone I've had. I can live with a little lag but the limits of the ram really impacted general stability (crashes) and user experience. Very common example - play a podcast (Overcast)/pause with CC/do something else/bring up CC to resume and Overcast is flushed, defaults to music player. So annoying, never happens with 6S Plus or 7 Plus.

6S Plus was great, and likely still is.

I love the 7 Plus, the biggest difference for me being the screen - notably better due to wider gamut - and the speakers are handy because I listen to podcasts on my phone a lot around the house, at least when my iPad isn't to hand. Also love having 256gb, finally the capacity of my iPod Classic and 100gb more for everything else.

Don't personally miss headphone jack since I've been using BT earphones since 2011. In fact, I honestly don't recall ever using the headphone jack on my previous two phones.

7 Plus and 7 are the fastest phone out right now... Phone is blisteringly fast and I came from a 6P. This thing runs laps around the 6P in performance

I hope ios 10 continues to get more optimization and improvements

Yeah, I know RAM was also a big factor, but the resolution also made a noticeable difference because I remember a lot of people saying that their 6 Plus would lag a lot on iOS 8, where as the 4.7 inch iPhone 6 and iPhone 5S both had less frame drops and opened stuff faster sometimes.

With the extra performance, combined with the quality of the apps, I now find myself doing a lot more on the iPhone. For travel planning and bookings, I'm almost now 100% on the iPhone. However, productivity related tasks I sill default to the MacBook but there is also much more that I could do now.
