Anybody notice any differences after the latest EFI Firmware Update? Installed it this morning but under the Thunderbolt section in System Profiler it still lists 'No devices connected' for the Port Status.

No difference. Still blacks out every so often.

Thunderbolt Firmware update in July, EFI Firmware update earlier this month, and a Thunderbolt Software update today, and I'm still having the blackout issues and System Profiler still shows that nothing is connected when there actually is.

I followed up with the Apple Support rep last week who's kept my ticket open for the past 3+ months, and she hasn't replied to me yet.

Still no go...

Several months later, it's still not fixed. I'm pretty sure Apple just decided to screw any customers who had a 24" ACD and bought a new Macbook with Thunderbolt.

Too bad they made a $1,000 display obsolete in less than 2 years.

Typical Apple and their forced obsolescence. I put up with it on most things, but this really takes the cake.

By the way, this is a problem with Thunderbolt on all Macbooks (13/15/17/Airs) and the 24" Apple Cinema Display. Thunderbolt isn't quite Displayport compatible, hence the blanking and puked graphics.

I don't think there is a firmware fix - this is a hardware thing, and the only thing that will fix it is buying a new monitor (or using non-Thunderbolt computer.) Apple knows this would be recall suicide, so they are sweeping it under the rug.

It Steve was alive, he would be ashamed.

I was finally contacted by the Apple Support rep and seem to have found a solution. It's been several weeks with no issues so I think this is it (at least for me).

Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4045

My system profiler still shows that no devices are connected to the Thunderbolt port, but I haven't had any screen flicker or corrupted display issues since installing it.
