Well, the only thing keeping me from upgrading is Quickbooks Pro 2003... I'll wait a while...

The disk is still in on my desk but 10.5.8 is fine for me. Im in no mood for troubleshooting.

When I read this thread I laughed. I'm still on 10.5.7! Afraid to upgrade to 10.5.8 until my 1.5TB hard drive arrives so I can start making proper backups.

I have the 10.6 up to date disk sitting on my desk and at first I thought I would try it out at maybe 10.6.1 but since that's come and went I think I'm going to take my time. This is my first mac and I still find 10.5 very refreshing after a long time with xp so I don't really see what the rush is.

Also for all those who say 'only people who have problems will post about it. Those who don't won't say anything'???? This might be true but how on earth would you distinguish this from a legitimate problem?! I'm sure there were some people who were happy with vista even when it first came out and nobody heard from them. That doesn't mean vista didn't have problems so I find this kind of argument very questionable.

Anyway I do take heart from those who do have snow leopard working well and hope that in the next few updates I will have the courage to pop in the disk collecting dust on my desk...

I'm still using that "crappy leopard"- (or wait, didn't he also say "Leopard was excellent"? Which one is it?) because I need Quickbooks Pro 5 to run smoothly right away..

I like Leopard just fine.. I see no reason for me personally to upgrade but I'm glad it seems to be a pretty smooth switch for most..

To answer the OP's question:

I am waiting to upgrade as well. I have the disc, but I will stick with 10.5.8 until at least 10.6.3.

Yeah? What's your point. Those issues are not affecting me in any way. It's good to know they're fixing things, but there was probably things that needed to be fixed for 10.5.8, but they released 10.6 instead.
Ok, so there were 'probably' bugs in 10.5.8, and there are definitely bugs in 10.6.1, but you say that 10.6.1 has less bugs than 10.5.8.

Are you saying that 10.5.8 was without bugs?
No.

There are bugs with 10.5.8 just as there are bugs with 10.6.1
I'm afraid not. 10.6 has LOTS of bugs, because it is a new release. 10.5.8 is quite stable because it is the 8th update to an OS originally released 22 months ago.

But, hey... whatever you're into.
I'm into the truth, but I will settle for logical consistency.

This is wisdom.

Hello Guys,

I haven't install SL yet because Quickbooks Pro 2007 doesn't run in it and CS3 is having few problems. I'm waiting to see if Apple fixes all these problems...

Anyone out there still using 10.5.8 and waiting for 10.6.2?

Theyre not Apples problems to fix. They are the makers of Quickbooks and Adobe CS3.

Developers have had tons of time to make their applications snow leopard compatible, theyve just been lazy and havent.

Leopard was excellent until I got to use Snow Leopard. Now I consider regular Leopard to be crappy compared to Snow Leopard. I can't go backwards now… I'm far too happy with Snow Leopard.

I'm sure the next major update will make me not want to go back to Snow Leopard. That's just the way it works.

Leopard is in the past now… I'm done with that OS. Also, yes, I believe Snow Leopard is less buggy than Leopard.

How do you explain Apple apps that don't run well in SL?

Fact is, there are plenty of bugs in SL, and some of the problems that are affecting third-party apps will be fixed by Apple. The same thing happened with Leopard around the 10.5.3 and 10.5.4 releases.

Is it too much to expect that Apple be able to release an OS that can run apps that ran on the previous release? If it is, then why don't they just call it OS XI and be done with it.

Exactly what is so crap about Leopard? you sound like the type thats buys whatever is in the market for the sake of it even if you didn't need it. Reminds me of the iPhone releases. "I have to have it and I'll create a stampede to get it" then rub it in peoples faces.

Leopard is in the past now…

Maybe for you but not for others. Talk about generalizing.

I'm done with that OS. Also, yes, I believe Snow Leopard is less buggy than Leopard.

So you keep saying. Does it make you feel special and happier to keep telling people this?...

Leopard is crap because it's not Snow Leopard. Therefore Leopard < Snow Leopard.

Snow Leopard is such a better overall experience than Leopard… that's why I can't understand why people wanna stay away from it like it's the plague. It's a BETTER Leopard, not worse.

See… what Apple did was… they took Leopard… and made it BETTER.

End of discussion.

Thats a weak response. Thats a "because I said so".

Oh so you're a dictator. I see.

I don't know who's worse. Windows sickofants or Mac sickofants. Perhaps they are both pathetic. Alarming.

Have you upgraded to Snow Leopard yet? If not, then you have no say on the matter. Snow Leopard is fast, stable and working like a dream, so why hate on it?

Why the hate? I have no hate, I can't hate something. I have a huge disliking to fanboy tactics and superior attitudes.

Indeed I have Snow Leopard. I have 1 with Leopard and 1 with Snow. Both computers are acting almost identical in speed. There's maybe a small percentage in boost in Snow but nothing like the way you make it as if it was the passing of Christ.

I suppose your next response will be I have low spec Mac's to not notice any difference and full of haxies onboard.

i also have upgraded to SL. its nothing spectacular like how you're saying it. it doesnt matter what you say. i still downgraded to leopard. in fact, my leopard runs better.

Leopard > crap > TheSpaz
