Count me in for the camp that find BT voice dialing very useful - mainly while driving. It is much safer to be able to just hold my headset button for a couple of seconds and then say a name, rather than having to take the phone out of my pocket and start looking at the screen to place a phone call. That is the only feature I miss from my basic old Sony Ericsson flip phone.

There is a App available called "VoiceThisDialer". It costs a few bucks but the voice recognition is quite good.

I agree though. Having voice dialing through bluetooth would be great especially when driving. From what I understand though, it's a limitation that Apple has placed on developers.

What's the point of an app for voice dialing? If I go through the hassle of going through the app, I could just find the number in my phone book.

Can I ask: Who the hell uses their iPhone as a phone? It's probably the worse cell-phone out there for PHONE use. I think I used 1 minute of my anytime minutes and 30 minutes of my nights and weekends.

Ah well... I guess it IS called the iPhone. I've never needed voice dialing in the past. I just set up favorites. To each his own though.

LOL, the question is who doesn't use their iPhone as a phone.

The voice dialing serves 2 purposes:

1- Safety
2- Convenience

Another brilliant comment. It's no wonder you're shocked others get annoyed by your ignorant posts.

It's funny how many threads we see asking for every single feature that has graced a phone to be included in the iPhone. In no way is voice dialing a "BIG feature." And if it's that big a feature, use the apps.

Although admittedly, this doesn't allow bluetooth handsfree dialing.

Of course. I use my iPhone as a phone every once in a while, but I never said to myself "ARGH! I need voice dialing!"

Must Have

I completely agree that voice dialing is a must have feature. If you've never used it with a previous phone or mostly if you don't commute in your car every day, I can see how people might not think it is very useful. I, however, did have it on my previous phone and it annoys me every single time I make a phone call while I'm driving now that I have an iPhone. I have to fumble my phone out of my pocket, unlock, find the contact, select the number, etc, etc, etc, usually with a few gear shifts and lane changes mixed in there. Say Who or any of the other apps simply do not make this process any easier so I never use them. For how "usable" the iPhone is, not having voice dial is a big negative in my book.

forget voice dialing! i wish they come out with voice recognition when using GPS. So all you have to do is say the location or address and it fills it in and routes it for you! i am really looking forward to the tbt with the final release! do you think this is too unrealistic?

i dont mind using voice dial

i think its a pretty useful and beneficial feature

whenever im on the go or in a hurry i have my bluetooth headset on. i'd like to call somebody or answer calls without shuffling in my pockets for my phone. this is really useful when im running around or with my hands full. same goes when im driving. its so much more safer than holding your phone up to your ear.
