Picked mine up today thanks to this thread. I figured apples online availability would be correct, but I guess the problem is they receive shipments in the morning, so it doesn't update at night. Got there around 10:30 and was out in about half hour. A little line formed, I was the 2nd person, and maybe 10 behind me when I was leaving.

After observing the website closely for several days, my guess is that the availability reflects shipments by Apple, rather than actual stock in stores. For example, during the day on Tuesday, the site showed that the Beverly Center had all models in stock, which they did not. The next day, however, all three models were on sale. My guess, therefore, is that Apple had shipped an order of phones to the Beverly Center, which is why the availability website showed green.
