The title says it all - is the iTunes store still working for others in the last PPC version (10.6.3)? Been ages since I bought an album via iTunes, but a local group just released one and I wanted to buy it, but find the iTunes store nearly completely unusable now on my Powerbook. Are others still using this? Is there a workaround I'm not aware of?

It appears to be working fine for me.

Hmm, thanks for confirming. I reckon it must be something wrong with my setup then. My internet is currently out at home, so I'm tethered to the LTE on my phone, but I wouldn't expect that to cause any issues. Will try again though after the cable company comes back online.

Very interesting.

For that matter, does anyone know if the store is still functional in iTunes 9.2.1?

So, I kinda forgot about this issue until I went to use iTunes today, and strangely enough it is still happening. Does anyone have any ideas on what I could do to address it? I couldn't find anything about that error code by searching.

This is kinda off-topic, but what theme are you using on your PPC Macs? It looks like a El Capitan screenshot, but I see you still have TenFourFox.

I assume you meant for me?

LeopardRebirth. You can get the wallpapers from the complete collection thread we have here.

Sorry for the bump, but how about now? Until a few weeks ago, the Store and iTunes Match were working fine on 10.6.3, and now when I go in, I get error -9836. It says an unknown error occurred in the iTunes Store.

I can get in fine. Haven't tried buying anything, though.

From my findings any iTunes version since they rewrote the store works fine. This would be iTunes 9.0 to present. I find that song previews don't work on old versions anymore, not sure why.

I can confirm this. On Friday I couldn't make any purchase, play audio previews (except for video ones), Genius stopped working. This error shows up periodically while iTunes is making a connection to the Store, also when I launch the app and try to update Genius. Looks like they changed TLS protocols or certificates (likely both) which, unfortunately, means the end for all old iTunes versions and I don't want to use iTunes 12 so much (let alone Music.app). App Store operating in a normal mode.

Some connections don't work. My DLSD (with 10.6.3) can still download purchased content, but can no longer play it streaming through iTunes Match. You have to download it and play the downloaded version.

I could be wrong, but could this error have anything to do with leopard webkit being installed or not? I would assume iTunes uses webkit to access the store.. Since the built in webkit is unable to load most pages due to SSL errors, it would make sense that installing leopard webkit would allow iTunes to access the store again.
Just a theory, it'd be cool if someone else could shed some light on that.

I don't use the iTunes store anymore anyways, even on my up-to-date machines. I prefer to purchase CDs (lossless audio).

Same here... Who wants to partake in continuous ecosystem entanglement anyway?

It's now unavailable again, back to square 1: no Genius in iTunes 10&11, no iTunes Store connection in iTunes 11.

My iTunes 10.6.3 on a G4 PowerBook worked fine until recently, I just signed out to try and log in with my old account (to download New Order's Waiting for the Siren's call which I bought in 2005!). I got the dreaded "cannot connect to itunes store message" and now can't sign back in. Is that it do you think? Can anyone still sign in on this set up? I already relinked against Leopard Webkit but no joy.

Have a look at this thread

Cool, so this goes for Leopard as well?
Snow Leopard minimum at the moment. I tried very hard to get Leopard working. There is a PPC version in the package which will install if it detects you're on PPC Leopard, but it crashes very frequently.

I just followed the instructions and it installed the ppc version of Squid. I followed the instructions in the readme and its working! I can log into Wikipedia on Webkit again. Still can't log into iTunes Store though, maybe because I am on a work network. I'll try when I get home... Thank you so much for the tip! I'll look out for the crashes...

Is this the 1st version for Leopard ? I believe it is.. Tiger's was not though and OS 9 was not.. I think Apple is keeping the servers on for Leopard and above. I wish they kept it on for OS 9 and all other older OS X's - I use mine in OS 9 as an ipod touch as I get music from friendly OS 9 sites.

@Macbookprodude iTunes 7.x was the first version to ship with Leopard, and Tiger's first version was iTunes 4.x, if I understood your question correctly.
