I use my original 3G iPad every day. For what I do -- email, internet, a few apps -- it still works as well as it did when I first got it.

My original iPad is still going. It only gets used when my iPad 3 battery runs down. I decided to keep it for just that purpose. iOS 5.1 did slow it down, the browser still crashes but since it only gets used once or twice a week now, I try to not let it bother me. I use it to browse the Internet mainly, and to listen to a few of my Internet radio stations, and a video here and there. I had intended to pass it down (as in free) to a relative, but she didn't seem interested in my used iPad, she wants a new iPad I think.

I still use the iPad 1 (it has the best design IMO) but using the 2 and 3 at work makes me realise how slow it's become. I also find Safri struggles to keep more than 2 tabs in memory unless I constantly close apps manually.

I might try a system restore. I guess all computers slow down over time, iPad is no different. Also with it not getting ios6 it is only a matter of time before apps stop supporting it.

Yup. That's one of my major complaints. For example, many times I've been on a site such as this, start composing a comment, open another tab to get some info, copy it and then come back to the first tab to find that what I wrote is lost because the tab had to reload. Really annoying.

I think that the iPad is worse in that regard. It's here that Android has an edge because at least on the smartphone side, vendors don't provide more than one major OS upgrade, so you avoid the situation of the OS becoming more than what the hardware can handle.

My 2008 iMac, 2007 Windows Vista laptop and 2002 Windows XP desktop have all slowed down, but they're all still functional enough to use for just about anything. By comparison, my iPad 1 barely is usable for browsing.

Same here, iPad 1 purchased on launch day. Still going well.

I gotta try the system restore, because typing just got very slow.

Still using my original purchased about a week after they became available. When the 4 comes out this one will become a nice remote.

Nothing in 5.1 was compelling enough to risk the upgrade given others experiences so I'm still fairly happy on 4.3

We still use our original iPad. It's mostly regulated to Videos for our daughter on car trips and sits on a coffee table for running our AppleTV in the living room using the Remote App. Overall it works fine (a little laggy) for very intermittent use. We have two iPad 2's that have taken it's place for anything major.

I still have my original iPad. Had to replace the wifi chip to get wifi working again, but its been great. My ipad3 is much faster, but the original iPad is perfectly capable. I mainly keep it around for testing.

I still have mine and use it every day. Running 5.1.1 and still performing exactly the same as when it was new. No lag or any other troubles.

Having seen the (rumoured) prices of the iPad Mini, I will keep on using my old iPad until it dies.

Excellent battery life and does the job in science grad school environment.

The worst thing of the iPad has always been the wifi signal receiver. Never used another iPad version, but I'd love using the cameras to 'scan' book pages and make annotations right there.
