So, just several days after the launch of the iPhone X we seem to see a flood of negative/mixed reviews from the press (nothing new here as it’s now the cool thing to hate on Apple) but how does this make everyone feel who are still waiting for their X to arrive??

Personally, I take the reviews with a pinch of salt and prefer to draw my own conclusions based on my own personal usage. Not that all the reviews are lying or exaggerating, and some of the information is worth knowing.

What I do find annoying is seeing just how many people are/have returned them (which they are well within their right), maybe it’s just me but when I read comments like “well, I just wanted to test it anyway” etc etc it makes me who also preordered but Apple/Carriers failed to deliver to even more infuriated...

How does everyone else who’s still waiting feel??

I would say the majority don't even read what the media is saying about the iPhone and they simply upgrade based on what they want. If you're somebody that's heavily into tech, then you're likely more versed about the good and the bad about any iPhone. But that's how the media works, they like the spotlight the negative controversy more than the positive.

I feel it is normal, every new piece of tech has detractors on the onset it is expected. I am happy to see fir myself how i like it.

Every iPhone has no shortage of “negative press” coverage and in my opinion very little of it is valid.

iPhone releases are big news, therefore coverage is big money even for detractors.

I don't listen to press. The X is a downgrade to what I expect from a phone. Returning it and keeping my 6S+

There's nothing wrong with negative reviews, each review, whether positive or negative provides more information for the consumer to determine if the product (in this case the iPhone x), is a good fit.

The thing is the negative is real im an apple sheep always having latest technology and qued for 13 hours to get it but im not enjoying it and for the first time ever i want 8 plus so not flagship there's to much wrong with the X the annoying aspect ratio the oled screen changes hue with a slight movement and it just feels so small compared to a plus phone

I like to watch detailed in depth reviews before I buy something to get an idea of the good/the bad, but ultimately I will draw my own conclusions after using it to see if it fits my needs.

Great thing is if it ends up that the X is not for you, you do have 14 days to return it for piece of mind and buy an alternative product..

I haven’t seen any negative reviews. All of the ones I’ve read are favourable overall with many of them explicitly stating it’s the best iPhone to date. If anything, it just seems to be the price tag that’s raising eyebrows and stopping an all out recommendation.

In any case, all I was really looking for was commentary on how well FaceID works in everyday use. In that arena, even though the overall tone of most articles is positive, there are offputting comments.

I have had the iPhone 4, 4s, 5, 6, 6s+, 7+, 8+ and now the X.
The X is simply THE best iPhone I have ever owned.
I am not sure what and why there would be a negative review/reaction to this handset as it improved on every previous generation of iPhone.
The only slight downside I can see is that coming from the plus version the screen is slightly narrower. I personally have no issue with this and am thoroughly enjoying my X.

Love my silver iPhone X got it on launch day delivered as an upgrade to my existing contract with EE so no complaints from me.

The phone is absolutely stunning design wise I think its the best designed iPhone since the iPhone 4/4S.

The OLED screen is just jaw dropping and I cant wait for more apps to support the full aspect ratio like Twitch and Moviebox etc.

What negative press? Since day one all I've read is good press on the X with people praising the phone non-stop.

People tend to be more active voicing their disapproval or bad experience than a pleasant one. Out of all the people who decided to return because the X is not a good fit for them, there are millions of others, myself included, that love the X. People also don't like changes. That's why there's always a group that so clingy to the past and actively try to find something bad about it without even giving it a chance.

While there are still some very minor bugs and kinks that I experienced using it, I still think this is one of the best phones ever made and it exceeded my expectations in every way.

Don't think too much about it. Wait until the phone come and decide if it fits you.

Reviews are great tools but you have to remember Missy people don't even realize the phone isn't the size of the plus. I upgraded from a 7 plus to my x and I've been loving it. I think it's just the price tag that has people running back.

All I'd say is that the early great reviews were from people Apple hand-picked to send review units to. Many of the bad reviews/comments are from "real" people who paid good money for the device and and aren't happy with what they got.

Just sayin'

I’m loving the phone. So much that I have no problem saying it’s the best smartphone I have owned. I’ve probably had 30ish over the last 3-4 years and not a single one compares. It puts a smile on my face every time I use it.

Im not really a Phone person but Im the most happy Ive ever been with an Apple iPhone.

in many ways it is the best phone ever. However excluding the screen size coming from a plus, which is personal preference, there are many things that make it a phone I can't live with. Primarily Face ID. It is not seamless, it IS slower that Touch ID and it doesn't work in certain situations that I took for granted before with Touch, such as waking up in the morning, having to get your face/phone in the perfect angle etc, im not saying it doesn't unlock, but it's not quick or smooth in those scenarios. For some people this won't be an issue, but for me I cannot stand it, so much so that today it's annoying me so much I considered chucking it in the bin.

I just read the Displaymate article about how the X's OLED is the best smartphone display ever made. Now I'm hyped more than ever!

I can understand the press being overly dramatic. They are relying on clicks to pay the bills.

It's the 94898085 threads on here about why someone isn't buying one, won't buy one, is going to buy something else instead, that I don't understand. Nobody cares. You aren't convincing anyone of anything other than your desperation to justify it to yourself.

I’m still waiting for my preorder in late Nov. My biggest concerns from the reviews is the notch. Seems many people don’t like it and I use my phone to watch a lot of videos. So yes, that does make me pause for a moment.

actually considering all the negative things I feel about the X, the notch and the gestures are the one or two things you will learn to ignore quickly. The notch might not you more if you watch a lot of videos but otherwise it's a non issue, blends into the background now

Ignore it. Nothing (Apple/tech-wise) in the history of mankind will ever be released that will not receive negative press by some, and blind love by others. This has no bearing on what you will actually experience. Besides much of it is opinion - some may mark it down because they hate the notch, whereas you may like it/not care.
