I ordered berry and my email confirmation says royal blue too. I don't care for the color the way it looks online. I'll be returning it too. Looks like I'll go with a different case now. Bummer. I was looking forward to the berry color.

If you think you might be ok with the blue, j&r offered me 15$ refund to keep it. Might want to give them a call if so.

I'll know soon on the berry color and I'll post a video. Apparently I ordered the berry from radtech right before they went on back order. Mine shipped and should be here next week so if you don't have yours by then I'll post about it for you.

I still have my eye on some other cases but I am still very impressed by the grip. The small stand is easy to pop open and yes the longer one takes some effort so that could be a put off for some but for me it's not a huge deal.

I am absolutely loving that I can prop this case up in stand mode on my lap while I'm in bed to play games, type, etc... I'm typing this post using it now and it's rock solid :)

How about using it on your lap. That's whats the main thing for me. Can you comment on it.

No issues using it on my lap, because of the way the stand is set up it is very stable and you will never have to worry about it slipping or falling out of place.

Looks like Radtech got some more of the black ones in stock, just got my shipping notice from them :)

Any chance someone has been notified of dispatch of a berry one?

I placed an order on the 28th for delivery to the UK and am wondering if they are going to meet their stock estimate of April 6th. Shame that Easter is going to delay things further.....

Good news man. Got my J&R order in today and it is indeed berry. The case is very nice... Super low profile.

That's good news! I've checked my shipping status a few times and it seems it hasn't been picked up yet so maybe they were holding it for a reason.

Whatever the color, the form factor looks great. I'm looking forward to receiving it to check it out.

I emailed Radtech to ask about the availability of the berry cases. Apparently they have a shipment on its way, but it won't arrive until Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.

A shame but not entirely unexpected....

Just got my royal blue grip from Radtech. I was a little hesitant to order the blue, it looked a too bright in pictures but I didn't want any of the other colors and decided to take a chance that the blue doesn't photograph well. I was right, I really like the color, it's a deeper blue than in the pictures, it's bright, but not as garish as it looks online.

It feels a little thicker than the Incipio Smart Feather/Apple Smart Cover combination I had on before, but still thinner than my iPad 1, and it has a nice solid feel. When I carried my iPod around with the smart cover, I cover would shift around enough that the magnet would get out of alignment and I could hear the iPad going in and out of sleep. This has a latch and doesn't move around at all, like I said, nice and solid.

Someone asked about the viewing angles. In its more upright position it's lower than the smart cover and the typing position is a little higher. This is perfect for me, and it's why I replaced the smart cover as the two positions were either too high or too low.

The Grip is perfect for lap use. With the solid one-piece cover it's very stable. Typing can be a little bouncy, but something I can get used to.

This is longer than I intended, but these are my first impressions.

I am loving this case after my first few days. I've seen some people complain about the stand having a large footprint, but as stated in this thread that allows you to use it in weird positions like your lap and belly when laying down. This is pretty much the perfect case in my eyes. The berry color is very deep and looks great.

I love the outside materials and design of the case, but the downside for me is, when open, the microfiber lining of the front flap contacts anything you place the ipad on. This will get very dirty. Happened on another case I had. Too bad.
THe outside of any case should be the contact with surfaces, the inside should only contact the ipad. I like it otherwise.

I agree. Definitely have the same concern and not sure I'm keeping it for that reason.

The latch actually keeps half of the inside from even touching the surface. I'd rather have this than say the Velcro and folding action of the switch easy canvas. Technically, if you use the smartcover like apple demos on their site, the microfiber is touching the surface as well.

I dont follow you, looks to me, like the entire flap is flat on the table.
and No, you can fold up the apple smart cover the other way. so the leather or poly side is the contact side, not so with this cover.
you could not fold the cover back and let it lay flat out in front of the ipad, its still gonna gather dirt, exposed like that, but nowhere near as much as with table contact folded back..

Is it just me, or does this case really smell? I know I've smelled this smell before but i cant place it. I think it's actually giving me a headache.

The latch is stiff... Not flat on surface so there is a gap between a good part of the cover and the surface. Yes, I realize you can fold the smartcover around the other way hence me saying if you used it like the apple site shows you. They roll it up with the leather on the inside.

My case doesn't smell like anything. My switcheasy canvas smelled bad, however.

Received mine today. 3 days from ordering til it was on my ipad.
So far I really like it.
Sleep function works fine, I like the "lid lock". Total protection of the whole ipad. No big cut outs like the Griffin. The "legs" are a little stiff but, I guess this will keep them from coming out on their own.

Time will tell if the fiber cloth inside will hold up or gather dirt.

Smell? Yes, mine has sort of a sweet smell. Maybe the plastic or glue for the cloth interior? Nothing to strong, but it is noticeable.

Does anyone use this case with a screen protector? If so, does clasp interfere with it? I had another case that had such a clasp and it would catch the screen protector and pull it up when opening it.

Rick - I see that you have reviewed both the Griffin Intellicase and the grip. Is the weight about the same for both cases? And my most common position is in my lap sitting in my recliner, so the lap is not flat but usually raised up. So with this type of usual positioning would the grip still work well?

Also to anyone else that has this, really how wobbly is the typing mode?

I have both.
Griffin Intellicase weighs 6.7 ounces
STM Grip weighs 8.4 ounces.

With that, the Grip feels a lot more robust compared to the Griffin. My main complaint on the Griffin are the overly large cut outs. These really could be made smaller to lessen the risk of damage at these points.

Can anyone speak further regarding the interior of the case coming in contact with the table surface? This is the only thing holding me back from ordering it. It otherwise seems like a perfect case to me.
