Some people like myself don't organise photos into albums though.

And additionally if I wanna share an old photo on the Facebook app I can't, because Facebook only allows you to select photos from the recently added album. Same with Dropbox.

I really think it's much easier to find things based on dates but that's me. As for the FB upload, dev can't release their iOS8 updates until iOS8 is released to the public so that would be something that should be coming as you know. But you should submit a bug report for the beta if you see something that's specific to the native iOS app.

This is actually a refinement of iOS 7. Now, take a photo on any device and don't worry, it's there in one album. Previously you might have a few different camera rolls on a few different devices.

Much better, I think.

Provided that you use iCloud for backup? I do not. I'm purposely selective about what's on each device.

No Camera Roll access feels like very bad news. Almost deal-breaker bad news.

Yeah it's awful. I really hope they bring back camera roll. In fact I'm sure they will once everyone gets ios 8 and makes some noise about this lack of feature. This type of stuff really makes you wonder who approved this. Why would they ever consider removing that.

How is this a refinement? You can't access all your media in one simple grid. And you know what? Try sending someone a message in iMessage. Good luck scrolling thru all those collections rather than the previous simple roll. I found this out earlier and it took way too long to find the photo I wanted to send.

My new iPhone comes on the 19th and I assume it's loaded with iOS 8. I'll set it up with the iOS 7.1.2 backup from my iPhone 5 and see what's what.

Meanwhile, iPad 4 and Mini-R will stay on iOS 7.1.2 for the time being.

Annoys me too. Seems to still exist in the photo picker, though.

I can't find the time frame for how long things stay in recently added... that being said I have not seen anything drop out of it and I have been on iOS8 since the first beta.

I have a feeling "Recently Added" is the camera roll just renamed.

its so stupid i downloaded some pics from safari and wondered why it didnt work. eventually i found those pics randomly in "2009" and "2011". what a mess

Its also the folder that un-updated apps which can access only camera roll, get access to now in iOS8. So yea.

Conveniently, iPhone and iPad photos sync across iCloud into it.

So basically this whole thread is a butch of bunk:)

Recently Added is not the new camera roll lol... if so then why are we all here complaining? And why does mine only have 5? I'm pretty sure it goes back 30 days. Cause some of my pics from iOS 7 are in there.

wow...

How did these things not get reported during the beta?

Never even thought about downloaded photos with metadata. Ridiculous.

As far as I can tell, Recently Added is the new Camera Roll as some have pointed out ... I have pics from the B1 still in there and they have not disappeared suddenly after some days ...

If there was a time limit of photos within the Recently Added tab, don't you think Apple would have put info text just like in the Recently Deleted one about the number of days each photo has left

All I can see is reorg within the Photos app and bit of renaming done by Apple, thats it. Yes, its different and yes people will get used to it.

All of my photos are NOT in Recently Added and others have said the same and yet you keep stating it without evidence.

All of the photos I have taken since June are in my Recently added folder. All other photos that I have synced over via iTunes are not. Im imagining that everyone is experiencing different things, it is/was a beta after all.

And yet other have said that their photos are still present .. not sure why you need "evidence" since this is a discussion not a court trial
