AT&T can put a block on the phone but it might still be used on other carriers. Have you used Find My Phone and put a lock on the phone from icloud.com?? That's the first thing to do.

Out of curiosity, why was it already disabled?
It was stolen several hours ago. And he's been checking all afternoon. This is what we see when logging in.

Or at least has not had it connected to the internet in several hours
Not sure about that. It might be turned off basically. But Find My iPhone would require the corresponding iCloud account password to be disabled.

Could be good.. meaning bad for crooks. If it goes into Lost Mode LEAVE it in Lost Mode. Do not wipe it. Make it a royal PITA for them. Looks like it’s off.. likely someone trying to clear it. This happened to me.

Hey all,

So my kid today let his new iPhone get stolen. If/when I call ATT can they or will they put a IEMI block on the device to keep anyone else from using it.

Thanks
Pissed in Texas.
Make sure that Find My iPhone is set to put into lost mode when turned on. Right now the thief has fully powered off the phone but it will notify you and you'll get the location as soon as it turns on. As soon as you get the location, call the police and have them go there.

Unless the thief is extremely experienced in stealing phones or he decides to completely destroy the phone when he can't get in, you should be able to get it back eventually. The only way for the thief to get it back into factory condition and unlocked is by opening up the casing and modifying the phone's hardware (which is extremely difficult).

I had my iPhone stolen a couple years ago and though the thief powered off the phone, I had it set so that I got his location as soon as it powered on. The police were able to track down the thief and I got my phone back.

Both sound and lost mode are pending "when this iPhone connects to the Internet". Is that what you mean?

Don't delete from account. If you delete it release and loss or erase mode and they can then activate it.

Oh yeah. I'm beyond mad. Had an iPhone 6 for two years. Was still in good shape, screen and all. Had this for two days and gets it stolen. Luckily we have the theft/loss insurance. But still. I'm f'n pissed
Did you buy from att? I haven't purchased my phone from them in a long time, but I think they offer insurance for lost phone?
