Yes. And my MIL added the insurance. So assuming it doesn't show up in a day or two, we'll fill a claim.Did you buy from att? I haven't purchased my phone from them in a long time, but I think they offer insurance for lost phone?

I mean what do you do? I'm mad he was careless. But it's not his fault it was stolen. And he's 14. So it's not like he's 10. So, hopefully it'll turn up in the next day or two..... yeah right.

He does. But no, not rich. I wish. But effectively kept the same phone bill payment with him upgrading. You must be rich
A 14 year old with a brand new newly release iPhone 8 plus for 799 retail? Hopefully he’s very smart and gets good grades for his parents to buy him brand new iPhones

If it was up to me, it'd be something different. But mom is in charge. She just allows me to live here. I married an only child and he's an only child. I'm just lucky she doesn't charge me rent.So what you're saying is, had he been 10 he'd have been on a Nokia flip phone and not a $800+ iPhone 8 Plus?
Wish my parents were as generous as you back in the day.
If momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy. If it was up to me, it'd be something different. But mom is in charge. She just allows me to live here. I married an only child and he's an only child. I'm just lucky she doesn't charge me rent.
Find my iPhone can only be disabled by someone with the iCloud password. This is sounding pretty fishy. He said find my iPhone has already been disabled. But let me double-check. If that's the case, can I still LOCK it?
I know. They have us by the short hairs. Me, I don't mind upgrading every year. I work my ass off and enjoy my gadgets. But I'm 46 years old. But I lost the other battle.Trying not to slam the poster - but this is exactly why so many people buy new phones. Nobody thinks about the $800 part at all. Just amazing that we will spend $800 on a phone that does almost the same as the phone that is already paid for.
Amazing.

Then maybe not disabled. Just not connected to the internet I guess is the better terminology.Find my iPhone can only be disabled by someone with the iCloud password. This is sounding pretty fishy.
No, I have no doubt someone stole it.Then maybe not disabled. Just not connected to the internet I guess is the better terminology.

Yes. And I have his username and password and keeping an eye on it via iCloudHe’s saying the phone likely has been off or not connected online

So I'm leaving FMIP turned on but keeps timing out 'for security reasons". I assume if say overnight it gets turned on, and I log in in the morning it'll still alert me?The phone is probably turned off. As said the same thing has happened to me before... and as soon as they went online the phone is locked.
I recovered my lost device a week later. FMIP does work.

Sounds good. It's a long shot at best. But who knows....Yes. You've put it in lost mode. When the phone goes online it will take effect. You'll be able to see it from FMIP.
I don't pretend to be an expert on this... just giving you my experience. When the person traded for my stolen iPad and then went online and got the message to call me at XXX-XXX-XXX they did... and we met and they gave it back.
I'm not saying you'll get the phone back... it just depends on if they actually want to use the paperweight as a paperweight or if they'll realize it's useless to them and return it.
Oh yeah. I'm beyond mad. Had an iPhone 6 for two years. Was still in good shape, screen and all. Had this for two days and gets it stolen. Luckily we have the theft/loss insurance. But still. I'm f'n pissed
