people have thought they have the right to shoot anyone in their house and have gone to jail for murder. You have to be able to show you thought you were in mortal danger and feared for your life... you will be given the benefit of the doubt if possible, but I've read stories like... where multiple people break in and when they saw the owner with the gun they basically stuck their hands up and were running back out the door, and he shot and killed one of them in the back as he was running toward the door... after testimony by all observers, he was still charged with murder, because his life was not in danger, and the intruder was trying to leave.

You should move to TEXAS! If they are in your house at any hour, or even outside, on your property, then kill them. That is, if a crime is being committed.

If you see someone grab your Macbook and start running away with it, and you shoot them... your probably going to prison, because in most US states you do NOT have the right to protect your property with lethal force, only to protect people.

Some states yes thankfully mine is not,if a criminal breaks into my house at night you die simple as that.

man that is dope as hell, im getting a mac for the 1st time in a couple of days and this story has me more excited about the switch now i knowthat if they ever steal my mbp( hopefully it never occurs) i could get it back. what apps did you use to get your mbp back?

Update, It took the crooks over a week to fire it up. But when they did I found it using that app. It was in a motel room that they were living in. The cops would not try and find it at first. I got a holt of the right person at the police department, and he went and found it in the first room he went to. Just looked at the guest list in the office, and knew exactly where to go.

Lucky you..I wish the police would do this for my stolen iPhone

That sucks a work colleague came into work yesterday and said that his sister picked up a 2012 Macbook Pro 15" for £400. I said that aint true unless dodgy which he just replied with "so...."

Stealing something that nice isn't right I feel sorry for the former owner hope they were insured.

They will, Just keep after them. I called several investigators from several branches of law enforcement before I got a guy on the phone, that said, point blank "If you have a location I will go get it" and he did 30 minutes after I sent him a screen shot.
