At some point the technology will be ready to put 128GB in an iPhone.

However, the question is still whether 128GB iPhones make sense for the world we live in. Why would you want to have a copy of your music library on every device using highly expensive storage instead of just having a single one on a server and being able to access it from everywhere, on every device?

why is it one or the other?

why not just offer the 4 gig and 8 gig then?

demands and development are not moot and irrelevant until apple implements them

I already filled my 32GB iPhone and my 64GB iPad.

What these products really need is a microSDXC slot. Then you're set up to 2TB eventually.

Actually, for the iPad the right thing would be a regular SDXC slot.

I want a 128gb iPhone

I have the 64gb right now and it's nearly the point of being filled up. I use a lot of apps, play a lot of games and keep a lot of offline tracks in Spotify. Not to mention I have quite a few podcasts that I subscribe to, so it adds up quicker then people think.

I also live in an area with no internet service, but I have internet at work so I tend to just keep a lot of stuff on my phone cause I also don't have unlimited data.

So trust me, there's a market for it.

I can truly say that 32 is a decent amount. I will purchase 16 but would like 32. I can't see how people hoard like that on an electronic device they change every 1-2 years.

not big enough market. The phone will be too expensive few would buy it.

Photos, video, music, movies, apps - combined they all take up a lot of space. I don't have a huge music collection, 40gbs worth which sits on my Iphone. So leaving only another 20gb for movies, video/photos & apps, which really isn't a lot. I'm constantly having to move stuff off it. I'm not whining that there isn't a 128gb, but it seems nonsensical not to have one as an option, especially when the Iphone is being seen as a replacement for your P&S and it includes features like burst mode that are going to eat up your memory. Another one of those Apple decisions that leaves you scratching your head...

My 64gb iP5 is almost full. iTunes Match is rubbish with a 25,000 track limit.

So as a iTunes Match user I have to correct that... The 25,000 track limit is only counted against music files that have to be uploaded, not for songs matched by or purchased in iTunes. So if your song is not included in the iTunes music library (so can't be matched), it will be uploaded. If you have 50,000 songs and iTunes could match them all; You don't use any of the upload limit.... Again it is only for files that get uploaded.. I have 10,000 songs. Only around 900 got uploaded so only using 900 of the 25,000 upload limit.

I have a 64 Gb and iTunes match has helped with the space issues... I can stream or download my songs on demand. Also with the match service you can now keep movies and tv shows also in the cloud.

I would have liked a 128Gb 5s also and would have bought one.. But there are options also....

I wonder what the sales numbers are for the 128GB iPad 4? I guess not enough for Apple to release the 128GB iPhone.

yeah because you actually listen to 40gb of music in a month.

I just think that for $300 I should be getting 64 gb. With HD cameras and improved specs, the media and the apps are only getting larger. 16gb shouldnt even be an option on the 5s.

I think i could deal with 64gb, but no way am I paying $200 for an extra 32gb. I'm willing to pay $300, and was fully ready to order the new iphone, but I'm honestly finding myself questioning whether its worth it to deal with the limit as i consider my needs. G4 with micro SD for $250...

But hey, HTC One (on verizon) is doing one worse, touting beats audio with only 16gb and no expandable storage. Let me tell you, if im so into my music so much that i want beats audio, I probably also have a good sized music library.

I want to have all my music collection available to me so I have the choice to play whatever I feel like at the time. You do know that they sell 128gb Ipods don't you?[/QUOTE]

Exactly, its not hoarding to want to be able to pick anything from an extensive music collection built up over 25 years, whether it is on a long flight or a long car ride.

Sure a $500 128GB iPhone would be expensive, but not as expensive as throwing away $400 on a 64GB iPhone that does not meet my needs.

It always baffled me why people need 64gig on their phone. Never mind 128gb.

I've always had the 16gb and never used it all.

Obviously people use their phones differently but personally I have no idea why people need all that space. I would understand the 128gb iPad. Entire film collections etc. and entire music collections on the iPod. But watching a film on the phone screen wouldn't be enjoyable for me. And I never use my phone for music.

But then I suppose I use my phone as a communications device. Calls. SMS. What's app. FB Etc and a camera.

I have an iPod if I want to listen to music and an iPad if I want to watch a film. I realise a lot of others use their phones as all in once devices.

i think 16GB is getting too low now a days..32GB should be the lowest..apps are getting bigger/camera are getting better ect...

i have a feeling apple will dump the 16GB like samsung did with the note 3:D
cant wait to get that:) ill be sticking to my iphone 5 till iphone 6S:D im sure will see a 128GB on iphone 6
I plan on my next iPhone being 32gb but I currently have a 16gb and for some people 16gb is enough for their use...I hope they don't get rid of it. and I think for my needs(photos and some apps) 32gb is the sweet spot for me...I have spotify and got rid of my music and videos on iTunes to free up space. I take a lot of photos...I used to have a lot of apps but have only 71 now(still sounds like a lot) that I use regularly.

Sorry, I have to rant. I keep reading all these posts about why Apple didn't release a 128GB version. Think about it. How many users need more than 64GB, I would guess probably about 1 in 500.. Why build an item and try and handle stock for a product which the masses do not desire. It wouldn't make sense for Apple to release a 128GB version. If anything a microSD card slot would make a lot more sense.

Okay, we'll stop whining — as long as you promise never to ask for any product or feature that Apple doesn't offer, or complain about a feature they do offer. Obviously, if Apple does something a certain way, it's because that's what the majority of people want.
