16GB jailbroken + camera connection kit = unlimited gigs through SD cards :)

Why bother paying an extra $100 if you could spend that $100 to buy an extra 64gbs.

Buying the 64gb because I am actually going to use the camera connection kit, to backup my Nikon NEF files while out and about.

16gb is too small for me. 32gb strikes the perfect balance w/o getting the top model since I'll probably upgrade again next year:D

My iPad only carries 300 or so songs, a few thousand pictures and I only have 5 movies loaded at one time.

I bought a 32gb WiFi iPad 1 because I wasn't certain it was a device I'd use regularly or just a really cool toy I craved. But after 2 weeks I was hooked. By then (when I was beyond my easy return/exchange period) I realized how much media I really wanted to store on the device. My music library is around 14gb. My video library is far bigger. I was forever swapping out files and resyncing the device because I had to conserve space. I started counting down the days until I would trade up for the next version.

When the new iPod Touch came out, I opted for a 64gb model of that. I have all my music on my Touch and pretty much all the video I care to throw at it. I always have about 15gb free on the device. I never worry about running out of space on that.

That's why I'm going for the 64gb iPad 2 model. If they'd released a 128gb model I would have jumped on it.

My main issue is that I travel quite a bit and can't rely on streaming content from home or a laptop. With the built-in cameras, I also don't want to limit myself on storage capacity.

On a sidenote, I've opted not to go for the 3g models because it is wiser for me to have a Virgin Mobile MiFi card. My MiFi can be used for my Touch, iPad or any of my laptops. And VM doesn't cap their MiFi.

For me its more of a question between storage and GPS. I feel the ipad is acting as a laptop alternative and therefore should be able to handle my entire itunes library (ok minus movies - but no reason why I shouldn't have all my albums). I currently have a 32Gb iphone and I've already had to take out a few albums to make space for everything. If your going on trip and you don't have your laptop I feel that the point of an ipad is a much more mobile way of carrying ALL you media around. Now I was all set on getting the 64Gb ipad (practically the same price as the 16bg 3g) until I realized that version has no GPS. Is it just me or is not useful to have a GPS on a mobile devise. Now if there is a nice GPS alternative I can use like a case for the ipad that has GPS integrated in it then great otherwise I'm stuck - I'll probably get the 16GB 3g and hope that apple stores my library in the cloud with their new mobileme thing.

Sounds like you might really enjoy an iPod. It's so much easier to listen to music/podcast with an iPod than it is an iPad.

I am debating between 16 and 32 myself.

I have a 32 GB iPhone and it is full. I'm worried that if I don't get the 32 I'll regret it.

However, I only plan to use the iPad at home mostly for apps. I have the Apple TV as well as my MBP. I could get the 16GB iPad with cover and HDMI out cable. Or I could get the 32GB iPad with no accessories. I don't intend to put any music or movies on the iPad so maybe I'll be okay with the 16GB model.

Easy decision for me, going with the 64 GB WiFi.

- My 16 GB iPhone 3GS is nearly full just from apps. I do not want to be constrained with app storage on my iPad.

- I plan to take full advantage of iMovie and will be transferring lots of clips from my regular video camera to the iPad for editing. I want plenty of breathing room for Garageband as well.

- I will also likely be previewing images from my DSLR camera on my iPad which are often in RAW format and take up a ton of space. While those images will be temporary, I will likely keep a number of photo events stored on the device semi-permanently.

- HomeSharing does lower the amount of space I would otherwise need for videos and music, but I'd still like to have some free space to spare for media on long trips and such.

The additional cost of the 64 GB model will certainly be worth it for me.

I thought about the 32GB wifi model, but I think the 64GB wifi will better fit my wants.

- I have a 160GB iPod classic I'm trying to phase out, so I've kinda been spoiled, having everything I want with me.
- I have a 32GB iPhone, and I've been hitting up against its limit for about a year. Only have room for my music and a handful of apps.
- I don't mind syncing to swap videos, but I like to keep all my music on my devices, and I have close to 30GB of music.

Streaming content isn't practical for me most of the time, so on-board storage is important to me.

I have a 32gb now and was planning in a 16gb. But then I thought about iMovie. With iMovie I would be more likely to upload photos in iPad and make something on the spot. Maybe 32 is better. 64 is out of my price range.

Will be my first iPad. 16 gb because it will be a place holder until the higher def screen is released.

I bought my iPad with 32Gb based on my experience with a 16Gb iPod Touch that filled up in no time. I thought that 32Gb would keep me happy for a while.

However, within a couple of months I found myself consistently running out of space and wondered if I should have gone with the 64Gb iPad instead. (Why didn't I? Because I bought the 3G model at $729US. Yes, 64Gb would only have been $100 more, but $829US exceeded the mental threshold of what I was willing to spend on the gadget)

Anyway, I came to the realization that even if I had owned the 64Gb model, I'd probably still be moaning about the lack of space, just a few months later. Instead I decided to look at what was taking up the most room on the device and see if I couldn't deal with it from that angle.

It turns out that movies were my single largest space-wasters. I also realized that I almost always watched them at home, so why was I carrying them around with me on the device? Instead I set up a small home-media server, stashed all my movies there and watch them from the iPad with a compatible streaming app. The result is that the iPad has much more free space and the rest of the family can also watch the movies with other devices. (In my case, the movies were encoded DVDs. If the majority of your movies were purchased from iTunes, etc. you'll need to factor DRM issues into the streaming solution you choose. Maybe look at AirPlay's new features or AirVideo, etc.)

That being said, there are still a few large video files I do carry around on the device, but they tend to be things like tech-conference videos and screencasts -- as such, they usually get deleted shortly after I watch them.

So for me it turns out that 32Gb is still the sweet spot. If I get another iPad in the near future, I'll probably stick with the same capacity.

Sorry for the way-too-long post.
